Texas' Latest Border Move Is a Giant Middle Finger to the Biden Admin

"This is not over," pledged Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott in a post on X earlier this week after the Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration on an emergency appeal order allowing federal agents to dismantle razor wire installed by Texas at the Mexican border.

"Texas' razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages," Abbott reiterated, correctly contrasting Texas' efforts to do the work of securing the border abdicated by the federal government with the Biden administration's policies that have intentionally incentivized and made it easier for illegal immigrants to enter and be released into the U.S.

Abbott added that, despite legal harassment from the White House, he will "continue to defend Texas' constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property."

Following through on his pledge from earlier in the week, Texas officials continued deploying even more razor wire along the Texas-Mexico border in defiance of the Biden administration.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez, despite the Biden administration's lawsuit to bar border-securing efforts and the Supreme Court's order, Texas — under Abbott's Operation Lone Star — "will maintain its current posture."

That means "deterring illegal border crossings by utilizing effective border security measures — reinforced concertina wire [and] anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande," Olivarez explained.

Those deterrents, unsurprisingly, have worked and continue to work as Texas fights to secure the international border and slow the record-setting influx of illegal immigrants caused by Biden's border crisis-triggering policies.

"The logical concern should be why the Federal Government continues to hinder Texas’ ability to protect its border, all while allowing for the exploitation, dangerous, [and] inhumane methods of permitting illegal immigrants, including children, to illegally cross a dangerous river where many have lost their lives," Olivarez noted. "Texas is the only state using every strategy [and] resource to protect its sovereignty, combat criminal activity, [and] discourage illegal immigration," he emphasized.

"Texas," he declared, "will continue to hold the line."

“””Glad that he’s standing up to the feds, but, seriously, isn’t this, just, funnelling the illegals into “legal” crossing points, where they are processed and released by the feds?”””

Yes, it probably does result in what you write. However, this squabble is making big news in the battle between States Rights and Limited Federal Government.

We need to engage in that fight.

The Founders didn’t decide to make the courts the arbiter of the Constitution, but after the Constitution went into effect it was clear that when different branches or levels of government came into conflict over what the Constitution allowed, somebody was going to have to decide one way or the other who was right.

Texas can go on fighting. I hope they do. I’m not saying they shouldn’t, just that somebody has to play the role that the courts play in our system.

And whose to say that the Border Patrol will do anything to remove the wire anyway.

That is a very relevant question. My friends in the USBP were heavily in favor of the Texas move to fortify the border. One of those "'bout time" type conversations.

Unfortunately, yes. They can even reroute the caravans all the way to Arizona, and that would take care of that. But there are other invasion entry points along the Texas border. But eagle pass was the cartel’s easiest entry because the democrat BP are very corrupt! There is a video of an illegal immigrant being helped over the razor wire and the illegal invader and agent fist bump each other! I was so infuriated I could not believe traitorous POS agent was backstabbing Americans….. how many multiple thousands has he helped cross the border? Remember there IS a lot of corruption and money flowing between the cartels and the corrupt agents along the Rio Grande border!

I see it as more a middle finger to SCOTUS, but that is just me, what do I know?

Either way, we have two middle fingers.

seems to the Supreme’s Abbott is the abusive spouse. Supreme’s likely see allowing wire cutting as the order of protection FOR THE INVADERS, no concern for the harming of US Citizens or destruction of their property by the invaders.....

I’m so tired of we need more women (or certain people groups) in positions of power. God doesn’t care about races of people or colors or male or female, He cares and uses the best qualified for that certain situations. That’s what any good business should do also.

I don’t think the demented one knows what size his shoes are...black or brown.
Impeachable, but not with the Republican House currently in office. They love the old grifter.

Bread and circuses. Abbott looks great covering a few spots while the majority of the boarder is unguarded.

I hearby predict that the Biden/Obama operation will now engage in covert government guerrilla tactics. Federal funding will suddenly be denied or withdrawn. Military based may get scaled down. That kind of thing. They won’t dare engage head on, but you watch what they will now attempt under a cloak of darkness.

Agree. Prepared in advance with input from some good Constitutional scholars.

Not sure about Abbott but this is a very interesting escalation.
