The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group will leave the eastern Mediterranean Sea, where it was sent just after the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October, in the "coming days," two U.S. officials tell ABC News.

The Ford is the U.S. Navy's newest and largest aircraft carrier and was nearing the end of its first operational deployment when it was redirected to the eastern Mediterranean the day after Hamas terrorists launched an unprecedented surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7.

I like the idea of drone submarines carrying flying drones (”drones” sounds sexier than “missiles”).

JUST IN: Pro-Palestinian protesters are marching towards Times Square where the New Years celebration is set to begin.

This should be fun.

It would be Israel that would be “regionalizing the war”, so the Ford is not needed in the region.

Iran and its proxies are not interested in a regional war. They are content with a “boiling the frog” strategy of continuing very slow escalations.

Now that the result is largely known let’s pretend Erdogan wasn’t running his mouth, Teheran wasn’t threatening the universe etc.....

and now it’s obvious the assorted Arabs will do nothing-

it’s Israel that desires wider conflict-if an Arab jumps in-it’s Israel’s fault-that’s what they wanted all along!

They could missile Damascus, Teheran etc....and get that wish almost instantly.

Missiles sounds so... 60's: lock on - fire - forget.

Drones are so AI and Suicidally SCARY: able to switch targets at will and anticipate where the target will try to flee to.

Either way. Israel is the one most likely to widen the war.

Yet they’ve had almost four months to do exactly that and haven’t.

Unlike hamas who is now garnering support fr even South Africa.

Either way. Up is still not down.

The Israelis have already widened the arc of retaliation. Netanyahu wants to end the Palestinian question once and for all. With the US there to commit forces to back him up, he’s been pretty bold in Lebanon and Syria. So far Hezbollah and Iran haven’t taken the bait. Until the U.S. can replace the Ford, it’ll get even dicier in the region.

Considering all of the issues that ship has had maybe there is a visit to the shipyard required.

That was my first thought.

We were told the number one priority was to position enough assets in Eastern Mediterranean to deter both Hezbollah and Iran from regionalizing the war. The Ford was the central deterrent. What changed in this area?

What we were told was a lie from start to finish. We were always bluffing, and the Iranians have called us on it. They are not deterred by the American presence.

It simply has become inconvenient to pretend that will back the Israelis. Withdrawing the Ford sends a pretty clear message to Israel.

Besides, the Ford was overdue for return to home port for refitting and repairs before it was deployed to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It might not be as combat-capable as it needs to be for a serious engagement.

The same hezbollah that has been perpetually launching attacks since day 2 is Israel widening the arc?

The same Iran whom upon having recd notification of $26billion freed saw to it that Oct 7th took place is Israel widening the arc?

The side terrorizing jews all over earth while soliciting support all over earth are not the escalators?

Up still isn’t down.

Those damn jews and israelis terrorizing arabs all over earth while seeking support under the buzzword genocide are not to be blamed for escalation!

Up still isn’t down but the savages appreciate the like mindedness.

I heard that USS Bataan amphibious ship with reinforced Marine Corps air assets on board moved from the Red Sea up to the Mediterranean.

I guess that was ahead of the Gerald Ford carrier leaving.

The Dwight Eisenhower carrier group in the Red Sea now dealing with the Yemeni (Houthi) attacks.

More subhumans supporting their ilk makes sense. Neither unevolved group belongs in today’s civilization.
