“We put 15 bases on their border, I’d expect a reaction.”
No; the bases were pre-existing Finnish installations. Finland just approved NATO access to those installations. So, “we” didn’t put 15 bases on the Russian border.
But, that goes against your narrative.
“Finland trains some 21,000 new conscripts every year, who then become part of its war-time reserve of 280,000 soldiers of whom some 10,000 a year are called up rotationally to refresher courses.
Some 870,000 Finns aged between 17 and 60 are liable for service in case of need. The contract staff consist of 12,000 people, 8,000 of them military personnel.”
This is an excellent read about their Ground, Air, and Naval forces and state of readiness and armament.
What can Finland’s armed forces and arsenal offer NATO?

“Fools.”
Yeah; the Russians were complete fools in threating their neighbors (which is a long-established habit of theirs).
“...it’s the same paranoid Muscovy, congenitally unable to get along with others on the playground.”
Yup.
“The Fins are idiots for not maintaining their neutrality. Wait until the US start stationing short range nukes there and see what happens. They are setting themselves up to be a first strike target in any WW3 scenario.”
You mean like the Russian tactical nukes already stationed in Belarus?
I don’t fault FReepers for this at all. People are drawn to strong people. Putin has demonstrated he has the balls to do what he says, unlike the neutered pos in the white hut.
“I don’t fault FReepers for this at all. People are drawn to strong people.”
IF those people are fellow countrymen. Perhaps that describes some of those FReepers.
The tactical nukes Russia has in Belarus are not a threat to the US, they are there for defensive purposes. How about we let Europe worry about (and pay for) their own defense for a change? The US has become essentially bankrupt playing these endless neocon games, it’s time to change strategy. Trump himself seems to think so and that’s the primary reason the deep state is pulling out all stops in keeping him from being elected again.
If Russia were to invade, if they even have the forces, they will lose the other half of Finland.
Poor Russians, they seem to have forgotten the Winter War, where they suffered severe losses and initially made little headway.
Finland repelled Soviet attacks for more than two months and inflicted substantial losses on the invaders in temperatures as low as −43 °C (−45 °F).
Hostilities ceased in March 1940 with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty in which Finland ceded 9% of its territory to the Soviet Union. Soviet losses were heavy, and the country’s international reputation suffered.
Their gains exceeded their pre-war demands, and the Soviets received substantial territories along Lake Ladoga and further north. Finland retained its sovereignty and enhanced its international reputation

Aside from the combat losses and however this turns out as far as Ukrainian assets transferred to Russia, I’m amazed at the scale of the enduring and long-term debacle in foreign policy this has turned out to be for Russia.
The slide in Russia’s prestige and stature has been staggering, they really have moved backward in time to a level of grunting primitivity and animal skin-wearing shaking of stone clubs at the world.
Give Lake Lagoda and Karelia back to the Finns!
The modern era goes much earlier than 1989. Pre-commie Russia has annexed Finland more than once in recent centuries.
Russians being Russians with their bullying and lies.
But at least Finland isn’t a hopelessly corrupt fake democracy unlike another European country I could mention.
“The slide in Russia’s prestige and stature has been staggering”
LOL how do you figure that? Russia, China, and their BRICS partners are quickly establishing an economic block that poses a serious economic challenge to the US and the rest of the West. There’ no viable way of challenging this outside of WW3. Is that what you clueless neocons are shooting for? We are moving towards a multipolar world whether you like it or not. And Russia is sitting pretty with their vast natural resources. This proxy war with Ukraine did little to weaken them. On the contrary it showed the limitations of the US to counter them militarily.
“The tactical nukes Russia has in Belarus are not a threat to the US, they are there for defensive purposes.”
You guys crack me up. The Russians threw a hissy fit a few years ago when there was a proposal to install DEFENSIVE anti-missile batteries in Poland; and the Russians screeched that such batteries would be a threat to Russia. And there is a HUGE difference between anti-missile assets and tactical nukes, the latter of which are designed for battlefield (i.e., ground) operations (which could be either offensive and defensive in nature).
If a defensive asset is a threat, it is a threat against aggression. You fail to understand that.
Russia has always been a paranoid and insecure bully.
Russia may have thrown a hissy fit but that didn’t stop our deployment of them. The red line for Russia has always been Ukraine not Poland.
I think you need to understand that this is not the cold war anymore. Russia is not your enemy. NATO is your enemy. NATO represents the radical leftists who want to steal your private property. NATO represents the tranny homo faction who want to redefine basic biological facts. NATO represents the corrupt political class who use war as a means to payoff friends and punish enemies. Putin is a nationalist. He wants what's best for Russia. Therefore he is an enemy of the beast power.
It seems your head is with the Russian/Red China/Iran/North Korea world and whatever they can put together.
