Illinois Property Taxes Make Biggest Jump in 30 Years Thanks to New Backdoor Tax Hike
Breitbart ^ | 12/10/2023 | Warner Todd Huston

The Local Government Revenue Recapture Act, is a law that allows cities, counties, and the state’s hundreds of different taxing bodies to “reacapture” their “lost” revenue [tax appeals] and also to shift the higher tax burden from the disappearing business property taxes to home owners, causing a near 30 percent jump in some cases in the burden on the state’s families.

The act allows state taxing bodies to take the amount they “lost” to appeals refunds, total that up, and then just raise taxes that amount, effectively nullifying the appeals decisions and acting as a yearly new stealth, backdoor tax hike.

The Republican Party in Illinois is a true G.O.P.- Gang Of Pussies. Most of them are RINOS. The few who actually DO care about their constituents have no sway at all.

The democrats have a supermajority in the statehouse, as well as the governorship, and it all started with Chicago politicians.

I would love to get out of this damn state. Can’t afford it.

Nice try, kid.

We still know you were talking about your personal experiences with Timothy Leary's favorite aperitif.

Renters don’t think that they pay real estate taxes. It’s like people who ride in a diesel powered bus and think that the price of oil does not affect them.

Nice try, Frack. Dr. Tim’s product never make it into my circle. But, it made it into yours.

Actually, I thought Dr. John Lilly’s experiments with sensory deprivation sounded pretty interesting. (He was a contemporary of Leary’s, BTW.) But, perhaps he should have stuck with that instead of introducing fabricated psychedelics into the experience. He also worked with dolphins, especially with dolphin communication. Very interesting guy; but kind of out there.

Frack! Here’s an idea: Next time you go on one of your journeys into inner space, try talking with...oh, I don’t know...a gold fish. Talk about matching wits! But, Frack; I think the gold fish will have a leg ...er, a fin...up on you.

Link, please.

And none of your sundown-addled interpretations of plain English, either, kid.

“Link, please.”

I’d say your posts on this thread are testament to that.

I know you already forgot my addendum to my "link, please", so I'll remind you of it before Pudding distracts you:

The Kiryandil wrote to The Kid: And none of your sundown-addled interpretations of plain English, either, kid.

But there you go again, spewing sundown just like your Biden.

Well, I guess where YOU learned English the gibberish you posted on this thread alone would meet your definition of “plain English” in your mind. But, Frack; adults don’t speak or write like that. They have a more advanced, and more clear and concise way of communicating. Your level of communication might be okay for the goldfish mentioned previously; but I doubt it even rises to that little fellow’s intellect. Frack, you’ll bore even the goldfish!

Nice try, Frack. I merely split my reply between two posts. Sometimes it’s easier that way.

“Where are the purple microdots?”

Sounds like that’s something you should direct to kiryandil.

Where are the purple microdots?

They were in tonight's Pudding, so we're not going to get a coherent answer from The Kid until the morrow.

On the plus side, they apparently complement the Thorazine somewhat, so there's less angry fist-shaking about us being on his psychedelic Ukrainian lawn.

States, Cities, etc., can’t print money.

Correct but they can raise taxes, fees and fines.

I live in a rural remote very conservative area in a county that has one county commissioner who’s a damn Democrat and been in office over 20 years, before I got here. We’re working to get rid of the ass and put in 5 part time commissioners. I think that’s finally on the ballot next year.

“Correct but they can raise taxes, fees and fines.”

My point was that the Federal Government disguises what amounts to a tax raise by unsecured borrowing which produces inflation which takes buying power from us.

The government takes buying power from us. Isn’t that the same as increasing a tax?

But the government can claim that they don’t raise taxes.

A distinction without a difference. My point is that government policies take money from the people lowering their standard of living (having to make choice between food or shelter).

Humans in general are adaptable to almost anything but there is a point when a majority says enough is enough and bad things happen to the “ruling class”.

It is only in hindsight that when that point has been reached.

Maybe there’s been enough hindsight on a lot of the stuff that’s going on. I am optimistic. Time for the pendulum to swing conservative.
