‘Escape liberal hell’: Republicans really are fleeing Washington State
Seattle Times ^ | 12/09/2023 | Danny Westneat

Posted on 12/09/2023 7:34:25 PM PST by SeekAndFind

At first, the ads seemed like a pandemic-era curiosity, a niche political pitch playing on the red state, blue state divide.

“Escape liberal hell,” counseled one sales video from a Boise, Idaho, real estate agent. “Here are seven reasons conservatives flock to Idaho.”

“Time is not on your side, flee the city NOW before the coming collapse!” read another ad for 5 acres in Moyie Springs, Idaho, listed for $259,000 by a Sandpoint, Idaho, company called Black Rifle Real Estate. (Motto: “Ready. Aim. Move.”)

The idea that people would pick up and move solely for politics has seemed like a stretch. Moving for a job, schools, space, a rural lifestyle, yes. People relocate for all sorts of reasons — nearly 250,000 moved here from another U.S. state last year, with 258,000 going the other way, the Census Bureau says.

But now, there’s solid evidence that some people really are migrating over partisanship.

This past week, Idaho released a database of voters who have moved into that state, along with where they came from and what political party they signed up for when they got there. In Washington, we don’t register by party — everybody is an independent voter. In Idaho, you generally have to affiliate with a party to vote in the primaries, so party choice is right on the government’s registration form.

The political makeup of who has moved to Idaho is eye-opening. It is, as the Idaho Capital Sun news site called it, a “Republican fever dream.”

And I’ve said before, the people of our nation are self-sorting before the nation breaks apart. The gap between the left and the right has become wider and given some of the actions by the left over the recent years, I see little to no chance of a reconciliation, but instead see a greater chance that we will end up in a civil war.

Bahamas got the same issue bothers me here in Hawaii:

Too dependent on shipping for most everything. No BOR in the Bahanas? liberals not much in favor here, but we do our own thing for the most part.

isolation and lack of mobility bothers me.
Living behind enemy lines as well.

Although we generally don’t register political affiliation here as the article indicates, my county in Eastern WA has about the same percentage of professing Republicans (~65%) as Idaho overall.

“while Idaho boasts the lowest cost of living among the western states.”

And salaries tend to be WAY lower.

My daughter and SIL skid their wonderful house in North Idaho in two days for tens of thousands over the asking price to a couple from Seattle. And they moved to the northernmost town in WA. Idiot from Seattle now has three houses on that lot (with is zoned for one) an obvious braindead Democrat.

“The Puget Sound megalopolis from Olympia to Everett is a true human hell-hole.”

You nailed it pretty good.
I left 24 year ago after spending twenty plus years at Boeing. I went to a job in Hawaii, the politics are even worse in Hawaii, but I’m in rural Hawaii and they don’t have the money to enforce the shit laws they pass.
I recently re-established legal residency in WA state for tax purposes, but spend most my time at my home with my wife in RURAL Hawaii.
It drove me nuts dealing with the Seattle to Olympia corridor traffic for the short time I ws there doing business.
Full disclosure I’m born and raised in So Cal, learned how to Drive in LA traffic and drove Seattle traffic for over twenty years.

I read a post on Nextdoor saying that King County is raising its sales tax - which is something like 3rd highest in the nation already.

I’m stuck, whole family their careers and businesses are here.

It’s not easy to keep conservatives around when a state decides to NO LONGER PUNISH CRIMINALS, so perhaps that’s a factor.

We Escaped our State of Liberalism (now Progressivism) Maryland in 1998 as about that time our Liberal Montgomery Count banned Santa Clause.

It's wasn't by far, the only reason we left.

The county Public schools were also infested with Liberalism. When asked what the county was going to do for the third year in a row about our son not being able to read after the 8th grade? And after getting some the same old answers "Remedial Reading" and "After School and Summer School attention". I finally asked, "Will he be held back after 12th grade for not being able to read?". They said "We have a NO FAIL POLICY". Well how about just holding him back this year? "We have a NO FAIL POLICY". And for the girls, we were subtly getting more assignments arguing for abortion under the rubric of "Choice" each year.

And, the TAXES! Montgomery County had a county INCOME TAX Rate of 55% of State. State at that time was 6% so the County INCOME TAX RATE WAS 3.3% (IE: 9.3% for Maryland!!). On top of that was a very high PROPERTY TAX RATE. And, Oh, I won't mention the states NIMBY policy of not building new Electric Plants and suppressing rate increases had finally BACKFIRED; Electricity Bills were skyrocketing.

We were finally fed up with the D.C. Areas constantly increasing Liberal Infestation and support for every Liberal Cause. So we asked God to move us out of the D.C. Area, anywhere else, and He moved us to this blessed rural area in the state of Georgia.

Today, if we were still there it would be GENDER MUTILIZATION/Transgenderism being fostered and abedded by the Public School upon the students. Let alone the transportation of teenage girls to Abortion Clinics (all without parental notification of course) probably continuing since those days.

Yeah, we escaped big time. And we thank God more and more each year!

No County Income Taxes: A raise of 3.3%

Property taxes were 1/2 for the same value, another raise of 1% (Homestead Exemption here in Georgia). So a 4.3% raise just for moving!

There is a lot more and more coming here in Georgia.

Flee these Progressive Democratic Hellhole States and Cities, Y'all.

Tennessee has 0% INCOME TAXES. South Carolina is good too.

But Please! Leave your Progressive/Liberalism behind. We are God and Family here in the South, Y'ALL.

Of course what they don’t mention is that blue shitholes are LOSING population as a general rule while red states are GAINING population.

Setting up parallel economies? GOOD! That means separate parallel companies and services Leftists cannot cancel are being set up and are expanding. That’s exactly what we need to do.

“People will choose their mobile phone provider or their coffee based on which team they’re on”? I’m years ahead of you. I dropped AT&T for their far left politics just as I dropped Starbucks and later dropped the phonies at Black Rifle Coffee for their far left politics. I dropped a host of other companies too for the same reason - Woca Cola, Tranheuser Busch, Delta/American/United, Apple, Amazon, Bank of America, etc.

We in the states being fled to ask that if you come here because you don’t like there, don’t try to make her like there.

We Southerners have said the same to Yankees for decades and decades. We're happy to welcome Leftugees from there. But if you want gold plated government services for everything and government control over everything....please just don't come. You're not going to be happy here. We're not like you and we don't want to be like you.

..."what they don’t mention is that blue"

states and cities are rapidly imploding. And with each new wind and wave of leftist/Marxist doctrine, they implode faster.

And God help us that they don't suck us in with them.

? Grant us True repentance in Jesus name. Please, I implore you with a broken heart for this wayward harlot of a nation. Please let her turn from her filthy bloody abortion bed now added by the blood of her Transgendered Children now suiciding. Please cause her to weep uncontrollably till she falls at the foot of your Cross, lays down her filthy rags of Social Justice and all other manners of Self-Righteousness and asks You, God, to save her for Jesus sake". Please give her a total turn away from it, an all form of repentance, please. For to you my Faithful Savior Forever I pray this in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I have no plans to make my new state of Florida like my old state of Maryland. What a horrible thing to do to other people!

Not to mention eventually forcing you to house some of Biden’s illegal aliens.
