INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. -- Just as they have for millions of years, sea turtles by the thousands made their labored crawl from the ocean to U.S. beaches to lay their eggs over the past several months. This year, record nesting was found in Florida and elsewhere despite growing concern about threats from climate change.
In Florida, preliminary state statistics show more than 133,840 loggerhead turtle nests, breaking a record set in 2016. Same for green turtles, where the estimate of at least 76,500 nests is well above the previous mark set in 2017.
High sea turtle nest numbers also have been reported in South Carolina, Alabama, North Carolina and Georgia, although not all set records like Florida, where Justin Perrault, vice president of research at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, said the number of nests is remarkable this year.
“We had more nests than we had ever seen before on our local beaches,” said Perrault, whose organization monitors Palm Beach County and broke a local record by 4,000 nests. “That's quite a bit of nesting.”

Future headline: RECORD HARVESTS WORLDWIDE! FAMINE DEFEATED! ALL THREATENED BY GLOBAL WARMING!!
You said:
““Global Warming? What happened to Climate Change?”
You didn’t see the memo yet? They have to keep re-naming the catastrophe, because it never pans out. It’s “Climate Crisis” now.
Try to keep up.
Glbal Warming became Climate Change, and then it became Climate Crisis.
Terrible emergency. WE must ACT! QUICKLY!!
(Can the 50 mile an hour speed limit be far off?)
Honestly, the whitest sentence I have ever heard.
Are we going back to “global warming” now and throwing out “climate change?”
Are we going back to “global warming” now and throwing out “climate change?”
First of all, I am offended by the name Indian Rocks...
Ouchie Blanket Rocks
Communists are good at solving imaginary problems.
That sounds like fun. FWIW, the loggerhead turtles were hunted to extinction here in Michigan. There hasn't one been seen in over two hundred years.
What idiots.
If global warming were threatening their survival, then how are they breaking records for nest building. Sounds more like *global warming* is their friend.
Just depends on what fits the narrative the best, and what they can use to control people and milk the most money out of them.
The CONCERN of global warming is growing. Global warming is not.
Ok, if the turtles are still threatened, let's make soup out of them. 🤓
Climate change threatens everything, so I don't even read what the 'experts' are saying.
Greta, do you have advice for saving them? 🤓
Or the slight increase in global temperatures is causing the turtles to breed more. Or causing more turtles from previous seasons to survive to build more nests this year.
In the age of dinosaurs, the earth was warmer and there was more carbon dioxide. More carbon dioxide meant the earth could support more biomass (all organisms are carbon-based and CO2 is the basis of all biological molecules). It also meant that there was more oxygen in the air. Life thrived. Now that much of the carbon dioxide is gone and the earth is cooler, there is not as much biomass on the planet. Also, organisms do not grow as large as they did tens or hundreds of millions of years ago. That is probably also due to decreased carbon dioxide.
If Sea Turtles looked like horseshoe crabs, no one would care!
“Try to keep up.”
I do try but it changes so often.
It seems they have a tiger by the tail that bites them every time they think they have it caged. Then they get too close to the cage and get clawed. Poor leftists.
Because they’ve kicked humans off the beach for the turtles. Turtle population explodes and they wonder why sharks are everywhere?
It’s a great way to get rid of the riff raff on the oceanfronts so the elite can have it all to themselves.
Water’s too hot. Could’ve called that one.
Nature propagating at an increased rate meets the climate change narrative.
My first thought was of Rush and his beach lights. I do miss him.
