What the ‘Hostage Release’ Ceasefire Proves: The mere fact that Israel would consider such an agreement shows how much more Israel cares about the individual human lives in question

For the first time since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, a temporary ceasefire has been announced, and the details confirm everything we knew or suspected about the contradictory cultures of the Israelis and the so-called “Palestinians.”

It has been reported that the deal was brokered by Qatar. Not a quite a client state of Iran, Qatar is nevertheless one of Iran’s few friends and is often therefore not on speaking terms with its other muslim neighbors. When we refer to Hamas as a client terror group of Iran, they like to protest that they’re really an independent group, but whom do they turn to whenever a mediator is needed? Funny how often it’s either Qatar or some other country in Iran’s orbit.

What are the terms of this alleged deal? Desperate to free as many suffering hostages as possible, the Israelis have agreed to a three-to-one swap: three jailed “Palestinians” to every one hostage, plus an agreement to have some daylight hours without air attacks every day for some time. In addition, the agreement requires again allowing the flow of food, fuel, and other humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The mere fact that Israel would consider such an agreement shows how much more Israel cares about the individual human lives in question. The Israeli negotiators are putting themselves in the shoes of the hostages, imagining how awful their circumstances must be, chained or strapped into underground makeshift tunnels for over six weeks straight now. The Israelis think of what condition some of them were in when they were taken, and what condition they must be in now, after over six weeks underground.

The Israelis know the danger to Israel posed by any ceasefire, but Israel values these specific human lives, and it is doing whatever it can to get as many out of there as possible — even though this current agreement frees only less than a quarter of the innocents kidnapped and dragged underground on October 7.

What if the situation were reversed?

It also proves how stupid their leadership is. If you keep rewarding kidnapping they are going to keep doing it. J. Paul Getty had the right idea. When his son was kidnapped he paid assassins to hunt down and kill the kidnappers.

The agreement is surprising. My stance would be Hamas must release all hostages before any ceasefire talks are possible. No prisoner relaese, period. Keep pounding away until they submit or are externmated.

I agree. This is a stalling tactic by HAMAS, giving them time to catch their breath and re-arm. Israel is in a tough spot. The animals could drag this out for months, if not years. They are in control.

Actually no. As always the world powers has a gun to their heads. They are forced to be the “nice guys” and fight a one arm war. 4 days is a ridiculous amount of time to release 50 hostages. It gives Hamas regroup time and more rapes for the women.

Why fold Islam’s warriors into Islamic states? Jihad does nt advance that way. The objectives of Islam are not met.

Call me an optimist, but I believe the Israeli intelligence services will be watching closely for movement of personnel, munitions and hostages during the cease fire. When it’s over, I will be disappointed if Hamas doesn’t catch holy hell.

It shows why Hamas still exists.

be careful on assumptions here. Some Hamas supporters have suggested the Oct 7th kidnappings were done in an effort to get their imprisoned people back. If you credit Israeli’s for trying to get theirs back, Hamas can claim the same credit for getting theirs back.

It may not be a valid comparison, but that won’t stop those who see similar motives in play claiming so.

That is what Golda Meier (sp?) when terrorists murdered their Olympic team. What was sad was that they stopped when it came time to assassinate the ones funding the murders.

Exactly. They (Knesset) care more about public opinion. The left has infiltrated Israel (in addition to its enemies).

They just endangered their very existence by taking the bait yet again AND raised the value of the remaining hostages exponentially.

The Israeli leadership is being pressured by hysterical hostage relatives crying all over the media. Short term relief but long term horror.
