Would Tucker Carlson make a good running mate for Donald Trump?
American Thinker ^ | 11/10/2023 | Andrea Widburg

Donald Trump appeared on the Clay & Buck show, and the host (I don’t know whether Clay or Buck) asked Trump if he’d consider Tucker as a running mate. After waffling along for a while about the number of viewers he got when he talked to Tucker (very high), compared to viewership for the Republican debates (very low), Trump finally said he would consider Tucker because the latter has “great common sense.” That’s true but Tucker has something even more important: He’s a remarkably gifted communicator in ways that Trump is not.

In his own way, Trump is a very gifted communicator, which is why he was one of the most popular entertainers in America. He has the ability to drive points home through vivid language. “Build a wall.” “Sleepy Joe.” “Low energy Jeb.” None of them are clever phrases because they have wit, rhymes, or alliteration.

In other words, Trump will never be Winston Churchill. After all, when Harry Truman said of Clement Attlee, who replaced Churchill at 10 Downing Street, “He seems a modest sort of fellow,” Churchill’s instant response was “He’s got a lot to be modest about.” He also memorably called Ramsay MacDonald “a sheep in sheep’s clothing.” One delights in Churchill’s quips. That’s not Trump.

But in his own way, Trump has a remarkable ability to carry people along with his ideas. What Trump cannot do is defend those ideas with any depth or even coherence. He waffles along, as he did in the video above where, instead of just answering the question, he first boasts about his ratings and attacks his opponents’ ratings. It’s a maddeningly indirect style of speech.

Many feel (I among them) that this rambling style gets in the way of conveying important ideas to Americans during incredibly fraught times.

It’s literally hard to imagine him doing any worse than any of the rest of the field.

At this point, what difference does it make? Honestly, I don’t think it matters much at all. Tuckerman is fine, go for it.

DeSantis ... wrong state, you shouldn’t have Prez and Vice Prez both from the same state

besides, bad blood between him and Trump (and between him and Trump’s supporters).

So I agree with you, no, not DeSantis

There are few people that Trump works with that he doesn’t turn against. Mike Pompeo and Ben Carson come to mind as people Trump has worked with and continues to respect.

Understood, I think he is working under a non-compete deal w/Fox. I don’t care enough to verify that, but assuming it’s maybe 2 years, Tucker probably has his eyes on big money a few years hence once he develops his platform and can monetize it.

Besides, I don’t really see him as VP, don’t suspect he wants the gig, and probably would vocally and center-of-attention-wise collide w/Trump early and often.

I’d be happy if it’s Tucker that ends up tossing the last shovel full of dirt into the grave of Faux News.

The BEST Justice of all is Poetic.

Love vivek’s unrelenting lightening storm but he may be to hard to control as VP, Tucker could be useful in other capacities in a trump administration as well as vivek. Bottom line, trump needs to focus on stripping down all the agencies firing all the clinton, BUSH obama bots and scum that infests. PUT HARD A## GOOD MANAGERIAL PEOPLE AT THE TOP OF ALL TO GET THE JOB DONE.

Tucker needs to be Press Secretary. We need to have someone who could step in and do Trump’s job if he falls. Who? Maybe Ted Cruz? Maybe Kari Lake? A VP needs to be an attack dog for the president—The Swami could do that but so could a lot of other folks. Scott maybe?

No.

The last thing we need is a callow spawn of the CIA as Trump’s wingman.

Sorry.
