WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's administration has informed the U.S. Congress that it is planning a $320 million transfer of precision bombs for Israel, a source familiar with the plan said on Monday.

The Wall Street Journal first reported that the administration sent formal notification on Oct. 31 to congressional leaders of the planned transfer of Spice Family Gliding Bomb Assemblies, a type of precision guided weapon fired by warplanes.

Citing correspondence it viewed, the Journal said weapons manufacturer Rafael USA would transfer the bombs to its Israeli parent company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for use by the Israeli defense ministry.

Earlier on Monday, the United Nations said Gaza is becoming a "graveyard for children," amplifying demands for a ceasefire as Palestinian health authorities said the death toll from Israel strikes had exceeded 10,000.

That should knock a few more points off the turnip’s popularity with the crazy leftys.

This is a waste and completely un-necessary.

Gaza is so small that they can cover the whole thing with mortars.

Instead they get glide bomb kits that cost 150K each with a range of 100 miles.

This is like using a ferrari to deliver pizza.

A humble mortar round may not blast through the concrete or earth protecting the target. The key words are precision and power.

And there may be more action on other fronts and not just Gaza.

Hate to give Biden credit for doing the right thing after he has caused the problem but this actually makes a lot of sense.

I agree that they will need artillery ammo as well... oh, wait, Brandon sent it all to Ukraine.

$320 million is 200 bomb kits. There are thousands of reinforced concrete buildings in Gaza and every one will likely be used by the 40,000 Hamas fighters and radicalized civilians.

they may need ground penetrators to get to the tunnels, but you don’t get that by attaching a gps kit to a standard gravity bomb.

Ok there is a use for these against Hezbollah, or even in Syria.

It's no worse giving ammo to Ukraine than to Israel. Both are a waste. We should support neither nation. America First.

One “smart” fighter with a laser designator, one “dumb” fighter with a few bombs. Target is a bridge with a few pylons to hold it up.

Smart says “Drop one, count two, drop two.” Smart designates target one, bomb one hits pylon, swings laser to pylon two, bomb two follows laser reflection, hits pylon two. Bridge down. Go home. “It’s Miller Time”.

CEP feet. Beats a mass gaggle that may not bring the target down.

Southeast Asia, 1972-1973.

And the hardware has improved.

Now - About that tunnel entrance....

Reuters never tires of kissing hamas ass. They just don’t get it. We know who they mean when they say “Palestinian sources” .Gaza is becoming a graveyard though. For Reuter’s hamas and Islamic Jihad buddies.

What was sent to Ukraine in jan 2023 is gone now. The Ukraine document leak in March 2023 said they had a tiny inventory of a few thousand shells.

That’s great, except there are almost no bridges in Gaza, but there are thousands of reinforced concrete buildings.

Using a Jdam or a spice at $150K to blow a tunnel entrance where there are a bunch more entrances and exits - and the civilians can dig out the entrance within a few days...

Could they fill the tunnels with smoke to determine exits and entrances?

Seal the entrances and exits, pump diesel into the tunnels and light it on fire?

i like the smoke idea

not sure enough smoke could be generated for so many tunnels but... maybe

smiles

or just set one end on fire and see what rats run out of the other end?
