Civilians in Gaza sheltered in fear amid constant bombardments targeting residential buildings and communications infrastructure on Monday, as Israeli officials vowed to further tighten a punishing siege of the densely populated enclave.
“I can see the plumes of smoke from the bombings through my window,” said Rama Abu Amra, 21, from south of Gaza City. She screamed as the bang of a nearby explosion could be heard.
“The bombs are falling all around us, we can’t even tell where they’re hitting. I can even smell the gunpowder now,” said the university student.
“It’s so scary. We don’t know what’s happening around us. We are so afraid about what will happen next,” she said. “For two days, we have woken up hearing bombs falling around us without knowing what’s happening. It has come as a total shock, we almost didn’t know if it was happening in real life or in a nightmare.”
....Gaza’s Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expressed outrage at the decision. “This is a collective punishment against 2 million Palestinians and a war crime of unprecedented dimensions,” it said.
The news of a complete shutdown of supplies followed an announcement by Israeli officials the previous day that they would cut the majority of electricity supplies to the enclave, where basic infrastructure was already at breaking point following repeated Israeli bombardments and a 16-yearblockade that had vastly curtailed supplies of fuel, construction materials, medicines and food.
...During past assaults, Israeli military forces routinely used a tactic they describe as “roof knocking”, in which a smaller explosive is dropped on a building as a warning for people to evacuate before it is destroyed. But reports from across the Gaza Strip suggested buildings were hit without either a warning or a message to those inside that their lives were in danger.

Well, looking at the live feeds (when they pan down to street level) of Gaza I see that a lot of people are “getting out of Dodge”. I’m not sure where they’ll go to other than the fields or the beaches. Enjoy the fruits of your seeds of terror that you folks have scattered.

There ARE NO civilians in Gaza.

Very good and truthful comment!!
Why is there still internet in Gaza?
If it was a real siege the only pictures coming out of Gaza would those released by Israel.
I assume Reuters is using satellite internet.
And I don’t know that it’s a real siege, per se. They’re making life difficult, no doubt, as they take out Hamas targets. A lot of booms going on now.
The “Guardian”.
Pfft.
There are civilians.
Israel is not like Hamas. Women and children will not be targeted, unlike what hamas did
’ Netanyahu: Israel’s response to Hamas attacks will “change the Middle East” ‘

Damn, these may be the toughest words coming out from Israel yet, and note the journalist (Adi Koplewitz) starting at ~ 3:25 talking about the mood in Israel: This retaliation is not just what Netanyahu and the Gov’t / Military have in mind, it’s apparently being driven by a very wide spectrum of the Israeli public.
At ~6:40 Koplewitz refers to reports of “extreme brutal sexual violence” against female captives taken by HAMAS, so the feeling in Israel may be that death is not the worst thing that can happen to the hostages.
We have to keep in mind that this Hamas attack is now, comparatively for Israel, 10x worse than 911 was for the US, and, we didn’t have these sorts of barbarism inflicted on us, either. Not to mention other aspects of history...
It sounds to me as if Israel really means to do a Fallujah number on Gaza, and may just level the place after letting out the women and children, so as to not have extremely high IDF casualties from urban warfare. If so, do Hezbollah and Iran get more directly involved? And does Biden back up his tough talk?
If you have line of sight, wireless Internet service can cover a mile or two. We looked into that for my Mom, as there is a provider a mile away. The provider was initially optimistic it would work, but, it turned out their tower wasn’t high enough and there were too many tall trees in the way.
In Gaza, a mile is a long way.
Reuters might be up the creek if the batteries run out on the camera end, though.
You entered FAFO Mode...
While Israeli students, women, children, elderly were being assaulted, killed, kidnapped you cheered. Now that you are under assault my heart is cold.
“innocent”
With the cheering in the streets when Israelis die there are few if any innocents among the “Palestinians”.
Rama Abu Amra, 21, if she sur:ives...
Fifty years from now, her 16 grandsons will lead the Gaza memorial massacre as they commemorate grandma being bombed into the stone age.
If she survives, she’ll be a terrorist factory, just like her grandma...
Ululate with me now!

Yeah, I bet Berlin sucked back in the day, too.
Suck it, Mohammed. Die screaming.
Iran won’t get directly involved.
Hizbollah might, but they may just posture as they have done so far.
