Israel has vowed to exact revenge on Palestinian militants after they launched a surprise attack on the country on Saturday, warning Hamas that they had made a 'grave mistake'.
Residents living close to Israel's border with Gaza have been ordered to stay inside and others have been evacuated after Hamas militants infiltrated the country by land, sea and air and launched a fusillade of missile strikes.
The Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that the militants will pay an 'unprecedented price' after their attacks killed at least 22 Israelis, with unconfirmed further casualties reported on both sides.
Speaking in a televised address, Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant said that Hamas had made a 'grave mistake...and launched a war against the State of Israel' - vowing that 'Israel will win'.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he was 'shocked' by the attacks, writing on X, formerly Twitter: 'Israel has an absolute right to defend itself. We're in contact with Israeli authorities, and British nationals in Israel should follow travel advice.'
Videos on social media appeared to show armed troops from the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' militant arm, moving through built-up areas firing weapons as Israeli residents were evacuated from their homes following air strikes.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Hamas called on 'the resistance fighters in the West Bank' as well as 'our Arab and Islamic nations' to join the battle.

Actually it is, but my God. Get over this.
Get some help.
Hamas must be channelling the spirit of Gen. Giáp.
Yep. It makes me rather nervous b/c my son has just started a 6 month deployment over in SA. He is AF electrical engineer.
Some need reminding.
Iran no doubt using the 6 billion given to them by Joe Lyin’
This time, destroy the ugly golden dome of the rock.
The Desctruction of the Dome of the Rock is one of the signs preceding Armageddon?
Slaughter the filthy Arab invaders.
were the Brits trying to destroy a country, like the Palis-Iran, Russia, and China?
maybe they were
It’s not a question of loving war or hating it. There is a war. It’s a question of which side you are on, and what, if anything, you think it’s worth fighting for.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other. ~ John Stuart Mill

The Russian ambassador to Israel refused to label Hamas as a terrorist organization, calling on Israel to deal with the group to reach a political solution.
While the United States has pressured some nations not to communicate with Hamas, some countries, including Russia, continue their communication channels with the movement to ensure their position in the region.
BREAKING:
Hezbollah fighters continue arriving on motorcycles to the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Israel has already started firing at them.
Ruzzia keeps company with the nicest regimes, don’t they?
Putin likes to pal around with his fellow terrorists.
“you sound insane.”
Insults about one’s mental state are considered profane and even deadly threats in Ruzzia where people are often accused of mental illness for criticizing the Almighty State. Are you a Ruzzian, Jon? Because you sure sound like one when you keep acting like one.
In general terms an enemies friend is also our enemy. Russia has been supplying arms and other assistance to our enemies since the fall of the USSR. Thus there is a probability there is a connection, even if in the background.
FR has been polarized by the Uke war. I believe the US should stay out of that war, however that does not make me a Putinesta. My position is based solely upon the fact this is a Euro war, not ours to waste valuable tax dollars and war materials on. If it turns out we need to face China and/or Russia head to head, then such assets will be needed for such a war, which could be triggered by the middle east or Taiwan.
Why now? Who’s interests are being served?
Turning aside from the continual and inevitable ad hominem attacks on other FReepers, I consider the moving landscape. With thousands of rockets, dozens of deaths, multiple hostages, and the surprise nature of the attack, I wonder if it is only the first wave. Who knows what evil lurks in a terrorist’s mind/heart. I hope Israel razes Hamas to rubble and ashes while they stay vigilant and aware.

It has nothing to do with Russia. Blame Joe Biden for giving Iran $6 billion so they could fund this little party. Take Putin’s pic down and replace it with Joey.
