The State Elections Enforcement Commission on Wednesday voted to open a sprawling investigation into Bridgeport’s recent Democratic primary and to subpoena all of the absentee ballots that were cast in the contest between seven-term mayor Joe Ganim and his challenger, John Gomes.
The commission said it received at least four complaints from citizens and two referrals from the Bridgeport Police Department regarding possible misuse of absentee ballots, including the distribution of those ballots at senior housing complexes in the city.
The commission intends to subpoena the city of Bridgeport for lists of all of the absentee ballot applications that were distributed, all of the absentee ballots that were actually cast in the primary and the envelopes that those ballots arrived in prior to being counted on election night.
Many of those documents have also been requested as part of a lawsuit that was filed on Tuesday by Gomes, who is asking a judge to set aside the primary results and to initiate a new election.
“Since even before last Tuesday’s primary in Bridgeport, there has been a significant amount of attention drawn to allegations of impropriety surrounding the ballots, in particular the use or misuse of absentee ballots in that primary,” SEEC Chairman Stephen Penny said during the meeting. “These allegations have the effect of undermining the public’s trust in free and fair elections, and we take them very seriously.”
The commission said it will also investigate a video that appears to show a Ganim supporter depositing absentee ballots into a drop box outside the Bridgeport government center roughly a week before Election Day.

The campaign alleges that the woman in the video is Wanda Geter-Pataky, a city employee, the vice chairwoman of Bridgeport’s Democratic Town Committee and a Ganim supporter.

Well, this time the fraud affects Democrats, so now they’ll look into it.
This is a great blessing for law and order. The case is a public witness to the fact that election fraud exists, that it causes a problem--and lo, that it has been committed by Democrats!
Heretofore, in the Looking-Glass media, election fraud was an entirely mythical phenomenon--impossible under our new, perfect system of, um, unwatched drop-boxes for absentee ballots that originate no-one-knows-where.
Now, at least in CT, the dangers of drop-boxes have become part of everyday conversation. And the fact that they can turn elections has been attested to by . . . other Democrats!
This is how the electinos are being stolen.
When the elections department receives a ballot by mail they have no way of knowing who voted. No Way.
Exactly, a rat getting cheated will get action.
Ganim’s boys will crack some heads…
Tell that to Bernie supporters.
Simple solution. Every evening just have a person, dressed in black and masked, open the back and remove the dem completed ballots. (someone has to have a key for these boxes). They can stuff them and we can remove them.

But look at the real moving parts there. Bernie was shafted because he wasn't really part of--or pals with--the Democrats who run the Party organization.
Bridgeport, of all places, ends up putting the lie to drop box voting security. This might be all Joe Ganim will have ever done to benefit the republic.
Bernie got paid well, another new house and a boat or some thing else.
Well Bernie didn’t gripe much, did he?
