Donald Trump Plans to Negotiate with Democrats on Abortion, Says Six-Week Limit Is a ‘Terrible Thing’
Breitbart ^ | 09/18/2023 | KATHERINE HAMILTON

Former President Donald Trump plans to negotiate with Democrats on the issue of abortion if reelected in 2024, saying in a Meet the Press interview released on Sunday, “I think they are all going to like me. I think both sides are going to like me.”

During a wide-ranging interview with NBC News moderator Kristen Welker, Trump repeatedly reiterated his intent to mediate on the issue of abortion if reelected and framed Democrats as extreme for supporting abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. He also declined to say if he believes unborn babies have a constitutional right to life and hit out at 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing a six-week abortion limit, calling the move a “terrible thing”:

Trump says that it’s a “terrible thing” to sign a heartbeat abortion bill such as the ones passed in FL, IA, OH, GA etc.

Where are the alleged pro-life groups/leaders on this?

When asked repeatedly if he would sign a 15-week federal abortion restriction if reelected, Trump replied, “I’m going to come together with all groups, and we’re going to have something that’s acceptable.”

it’s been passed into law, but will only take effect after the courts rule on the 15-week ban that previously existed.

The point I was trying to make, is Trump against the 6-week ban because 3 Republican Governors who he dislikes have signed the laws into effect or is this just a coincidence.

Such a non-argument. Trump said have said it doesn't matter what he thinks because he's running for a federal position, and abortion is a state issue.

And every time he says it he should add that it's thanks to his SCOTUS picks.

i have seen that on this forum...”jail for the mothers and the doctors”
This is an issue between the woman and her doctor- not the government and certainly not a bunch of holy rollers.

Now you have a huge increase in those populations which will become democratic voters

Sarcasm right? Tell me that’s sarcasm. You aren’t seriously saying abortion is needed to kill babies that are of certain races that might turn out to be democrats?

Abortion is the murder of a child.

Having said that, Trump fulfilled his promise to end Roe v Wade.

I did not like his answer either, due to the fact that he should not enter the fray. He kept his promise and now it is up to the states. But he does understand the situation.

I can’t understand how people who consent to kill a baby at six weeks act, like Dan Bongino did today, as if they are morally superior to anyone who wants to extend the range.

Lindsay Graham posited a federal ban on abortion and that is probably why the Republicans did so poorly last year. Has that idiot ever said a word on abortion before then?

Jesus said divorce was never intended, but due to the “hardness of hearts” Moses allowed it. Now, in this country, half the adult women are single and they like to sleep around and they want the abortion option. That can’t be changed just now due to hardness of hearts. They will never vote for an abortion ban even if it destroys them later on when the country is destroyed by the democrats. They are that stupid.

Abortion will never be stopped in this country unless hearts are changed, and that is not happening. We can destroy each other over a pipe dream and allow the democrats back in office and they will make legal any and all abortions.

Or we can secure the future of the country by giving Trump a chance to destroy the administrative dictatorship and deal with the abortion issue if things ever, ever, cool down.

What part of the SCOTUS ruling in Dobbs that returned the matter to the individual states does Trump not understand? It isn’t a federal matter. Nothing to negotiate.

Best thing to do with a person who is not a fanatic pro-abortion person but doesn’t go the whole required route is to get them to go with you to Washington for the Pro-March.

People come down the metro steps to the platform in groups singing and clapping. Then the sheer amount of people will blow you away when you get to the march. People sitting on the curb with their hands over their face either praying or being amazed and converted on the spot.

When you get to the top of the hill on the way to the Capitol, a friend says “Look behind you,” and the tears come to your eyes.

There is NOTHING at the Federal level. Thanks to Trump's judges overturning Roe, it's a state issue.

There isn't a realistic chance of passing anything but, maybe, a late-term abortion ban at the Federal level.

“Democrats won’t negotiate anything”

If that’s the case, then ‘negotiations’ will be short-lived.

But look at Europe, in EVERY CASE that I’m aware of, abortion is NOT an issue that wins or loses elections, yet Europe has some rather harsh abortion restrictions, certainly MUCH HARSHER than our Blue States, and even approaching the level of Red States (in some cases).

Yet we hear NOTHING about people at each other’s throats there. Why not? Because they TALK to each other.

But isn’t it strange that Trump has flip flopped on the abortion issue.

He hasn't flip-flopped. Dufus comment.

Either he drank the Kool-aid, or this is a tactic to get them to retreat tighter into their polarity.

I hope the latter.

No flip flop.

Keep telling yourself that

“I’m totally pro-choice,” he told Fox News on October 31, 1999. “I want to see the abortion issue removed from politics,” he told reporters on December 1, 1999, adding, “I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors.”

this issue is a double edged sword and anyone with a half a brain understands it. Its not gonna go away no matter how loud the holy rollers scream...

I’m just amazed the amount of fight concerning abortion a lot of folks have in them, but zip zero nadda about the friggin homos taking over everywhere. that too me speaks volumes....

The idea that DeSantis would somehow push through a total federal ban is unserious.
