Russian Airpower Is Threatening Ukraine's Counteroffensive More and More Every Day
Popular Mechanics via Yahoo ^ | September 1st, 2023 | Sébastien Roblin

It’s uncommon for Russian and Ukrainian narratives war to concur. But since Ukraine began its major counteroffensive in June, both countries agree that Russia’s tactical airpower poses a growing problem for Ukraine’s ground forces.

That may seem surprising given the general arc of the conflict, in which Russia’s qualitatively and quantitatively superior tactical air force (the VKS) has proven unable or unwilling to execute strikes deep into Ukrainian airspace—largely due to Ukraine’s extensive Soviet-era ground-based air defenses, now reinforced by more modern Western weapons.

Indeed, Russian airpower hasn’t prevented Ukraine’s counteroffensive from creeping forward several miles along three or four main axes of advances, with recent victories around Klischivka, Staromaiorske, Robotyne, Kozachi Laheri, and Urozhaine. But anti-tank missiles and glide bombs lobbed by Russian aircraft, combined with dense minefields and field fortifications, have contributed to making those Ukrainian advances more time-consuming and costly.

Airpower: The Army’s Fire Brigade

Military analysts expected that Russian advances would rely on its airpower edge to blunt Ukraine’s counteroffensive. Aviation assets can be rapidly surged and reallocated across the frontline in response to unexpected threats, serving as a first-responder ‘fire brigade’ to bail out ground forces fighting for survival.

There's at least a half-dozen threads today bragging about how Ukraine was muh winning and their paper drones were knocking down advanced Russian fighter jets. Posting all of the advanced military hardware & equipment Ukraine has to take down the evil Russian empire.

A lot of people here are going to need padded rooms and straight-jackets when Zelenskyy will be given no choice but to surrender or die.

What most simply cannot grasp- the size of Russia’s Army, This war put Vlad in a position to keep his military on alert and ready to defend Russian soil if NATO does something really, really stupid.

Vlad has stated he has 30 months of war materials ready to counter any NATO move. Their massive manufacturing base was energized back in 2014 when the Ukies started bombing the Donbass…..that said, the U.S. war manufacturing base will take years to get up and running…..everyone knows this…..

….and Vlad says Checkmate, again. Don’t buy into the nuke war fear- Vlad can easily repel any offensive moves by the West.

And in five or six months the Ukes will get F-16s and semi trained pilots to take care of that situation. The Ukrainians don’t have five or six months. At this point we need for Russia to mount a blitz and take the whole country in one swoop. We are using up our munition stores rapidly in this war and no longer have the industrial capacity to replace them quickly and we rely on China for critical materials which we have disdained to produce ourselves. China is encouraging both countries, US and Russia to expend their armaments in Ukraine. China has designs on parts of Siberia as well as Taiwan.

I guess the Biden generals and military technology experts were too busy working on climate change, DEI, and Hate Whitey policies to anticipate and remedy this problem.

You know what the Russians call these F-16’s, right? Targets. I bet the F-16s don’t last 48 hours. Russian satellites will track every one of them. There won’t be any hiding. That’s nothing new either. Ukraine is losing their asses because Russia knows where every concentration of Ukrainian troops is before they move up to the front lines. Russia is not like the Afghanis or Iraqis. They are a modern military and much more powerful than at the end of the Cold War.

Our government and the media spews propaganda. I also believe that there are supposedly really knowledgeable generals at the Pentagon that have severely underestimated Russia’s capabilities and their will. So it’s part incompetence and part intentional deception. This war is just a distraction from all the things the Biden administration has screwed up at home. It’s really sickening because it costs hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives. Our government doesn’t really care about Ukraine and they certainly don’t care about the American people.

“Russian Air-power Is Threatening Ukraine’s Counteroffensive More and More Every Day”

Bwahahahahaha! What air power?? The Russians have more military planes and helicopters burning on the ground then they have flying! The only air power is from all the farts the Russian Vodka Brigades are blowing after their hangovers.

The author of this article is drinking Kremlin Zombie Juice.

“that said, the U.S. war manufacturing base will take years to get up and running…..everyone knows this”

Nice try, pal, but TOTAL BS. Everyone on the inside knows that it will be DECADES before the US gets into even a semi-war footing, given our ‘environmental’ restrictions, and especially given the fact that much of Africa (and more growing almost by the day) is in NO MOOD to supply us with the needed raw materials. Most likely still exist in the US, Canada, and Australia, but good luck mining them!

“China has designs on parts of Siberia as well as Taiwan.”

Taiwan, yes, of course. For Siberia, China would have to deal with their cities being ‘liquidated’, so why go for it as long as they can buy whatever they need from Russia at reasonable prices. But if Russia tries to get cute (think Victoria Nulandn and the rest of the Neocons), then all bets are off and war becomes possible. Needless to say, Russia understands this (after all, they didn’t attend US universities), so they’ll play it cool.

Bottom line: Sorry Neocons (and Neocon Fanbois here) no WW3 between Russia and China, not even close - best to work on India, where you still have a chance to get WW3 started between India and China.

“You know what the Russians call these F-16’s, right? Targets. I bet the F-16s don’t last 48 hours.”

But look at it from the Neocon viewpoint, which is ‘who cares, as long as we can drag this war though November, 2024’, so as to get a Neocon puppet (either Republican idiot, or Democrat, doesn’t matter to them), in office. Then they can cut Ukraine loose and be done with that nightmare.

Millions do believe that, but not the people posting here - they know better, even the Operatives...but a job is a job, and those jobs are well-paying.

“when Zelenskyy will be given no choice but to surrender or die.”

he’ll never be forced to make that choice. When every Ukranian soldier is dead, he will be sipping cocktails at a Carribean beach. Every couple months he will order some cardboard planes to attack Russian airstrips or shopping malls, and all Zeepers will continue to boast about his glorious victories.

The Great Summer offensive is a failure…officially as most people consider Fall to have began. However as a podcaster said today expect to see a furious attack by Ukr, despite knowing they have lost. The goal isn’t to pierce the Russ defense and create a huge cauldron, or split the line and divide Russia from Crimea and retake it. It is simply to make some gains in order to appear successful and keep the gravy train flowing from the West. With M1 Abrahams, F16s and who knows maybe even a Polish Army group they can try again in the spring. In other words all of debt will continue to feed the political —military —industrial complex. Who cares a million Ukr men might die, no one in power it seems? IMG-8883

That FR has overly optimistic articles for both sides . . . .and neither side. I enjoy that. The truth is, in war it is the usual situation that both sides lose. I would not be surprised if the current situation ends that way.

But the freedom of speech, of ideas, is greatly enjoyed.
