Republicans view Reagan, Trump as best recent presidents

When asked to name the United States president who has done the best job over the past 40 years, a majority of Democrats name Barack Obama. Republicans, by contrast, are divided between a president who served in the 1980s – Ronald Reagan – and one who is currently running to return to office, Donald Trump.

About four-in-ten Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (41%) say Reagan has done the best job as president over the past 40 years. Slightly fewer (37%) say Trump has done the best job, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in July.

Only Trumpers are also SAD because President Reagan is more favored in the poll than President Trump

Well don’t forget what Reagan said, “the Democratic Party left me.”

over the past 40 years

Since 1983. I like Coolidge too.

Bidenskyyyy has a very strong following of illegal aliens and freeloading student loan deadbeats.

Things were pretty good under Eisenhower. Remember “Operation Wetback?” Things were under control until Dems swindled Reagan with the 1986 amnesty.

Things were pretty good under Eisenhower.

Yeah I used to think that until I realized he was basically a socialist, one reason Reagan decided to get into politics, preceded by his famous 1964 speech, “A Time to Choose”.

Taxes were in the 90 percentile under Eisenhower. No good.

President Reagan was the very FIRST President I ever got to vote for at age 18. Having barely survived the Carter Years, it was a no-brainer.

President Trump is probably the LAST decent President I’ll ever get to vote for at age 64 in 2024.

What a sad, SAD state of affairs. NO AMERICAN should go through nearly FIFTY YEARS of their life between America-Loving Presidents!

MAGA!

Truman tax rates.

Eisenhower did the most to defend our borders, and Reagan got swindled.

Trump was the greatest US president ever. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.

Reagan, though, was a disappointment. The government got bigger under Reagan and the whole rotten edifices of the New Deal and the “post war order”remained intact. In the 80s, it was early enough to dismantle Social Security, the regulatory state, NATO, all the alphabet agencies. By the time Trump came along, the damage was done, but Trump raised the nation to new heights in spite of it all. In a second term, he’ll be strong enough to do what Reagan couldn’t.

This has to be satire.

Please say you are not serious.

I’m warning you, this worship of this (extremely flawed) man is dangerous.

John Adams didn’t like it with George Washington, though he knew GW deserved every bit of it and ironically, Adams was too vain himself and didn’t like people saying things against him.

Adams was right to be concerned, but more about the people than the great man they revered. GW was a great MAN, for the ages, so he did not nearly exploit the massive adulation he got.

Unlike other very flawed people.

Coolidge??? I know nothing about the guy!

Of course not. The Left, which has taken over our education and information outlets, hates true patriots like Cool Cal was.

But I suspect the “unknown” presidents who are usually denigrated for not doing much actually should be much higher on the list!

I completely agree.
