be well. Sounds ugly.
Sasquatch
Fifty some years ago we were visiting Maui and stopped at a beach park near Lahaina.
We finally had to leave because of fierce winds coming down from the mountains.
It was a nice day in February with nothing going on except an eruption had just started at Kilauea on the Big Island.
I don’t think high winds on Maui are anything unusual, are they?
This sounds dreadful! Prayers sent for all.
I heard on the radio this morning that the oceans could be warmer than normal because the air is now cleaner because ships are now using cleaner burning fuel oil. Just imagine how bad things could be if China were not building so many coal-fired power plants. 🧐

\%
I’ve been to that beachside campground,, always wanted to go back just to camp there.
No, winds aren’t unusual, but cuz of the hurrican with its deviated path there were warnings to the locals of higher than usual winds.
With arson issues on maui the last few years , everyone was aware of elevated fire danger.
Im Sure they were extra careful and warchful,
....BUT...
..these fires started on widely seperated locations at roughly the same time, early before sunrise when everyone was sleeping.
A true worst case scenario for sure.
Need new glasses, I first read Maui as Miami.

Yes, sadly
I recall visiting Beaumont in 1979 right after a snowstorm.
With you in prayer.

The fire starts didn’t happen under power lines, most of which are underground.
LMAO ...bonehead
Point conceded.
The lahinia fire was a restart of a fire behind a house in a field,, no overhead power line THERE bonehead....
The other up country fires have yet to be seen if they started under a power line , bone head. ..
It’s not like freaking l.a. with power poles every where ,, it has yet to be seen if these upcountry fires happened in open fields or brush or forest , or in residential areas or maybe yes even under powerlines,,, bonehead .
Pretty easy to call someone a bone head LOL.
Spit.

Conservatives Alarmed After Report That Current Maui Police Chief Was Incident Commander During 2017 Las Vegas Massacre

This new revelation will certainly not give America confidence that the true cause behind the Maui fires will ever be known. Instead, we can count on a likely cover-up instead.
As Cristina Laila previously reported, devastating wildfires in Maui have left almost 100 people dead with approximately 1,000 people still unaccounted for.
People were reportedly jumping into the ocean and historic Lahania town was destroyed.
The news only gets worse, though. Reports reveal that current Maui Police Chief John Pelletier was the incident commander during the Las Vegas massacre in 2017, the worst mass shooting in American history. An incident commander is the top decision maker during a major incident. Their job is to delegate tasks and listen to input from subject matter experts to ultimately bring the incident to resolution.
Maui Police Chief John Pelletier came to Hawaii after 22 years in Las Vegas. He was incident commander for the 2017 mass shooting that left over 50 dead. Here he tells @CNN why only two bodies have been identified out of the 68 dead on Maui. #mauifires #maui #hawaii

Anyone else think it’s odd that Maui’s Police chief of the incident commander for the Las Vegas Massacre?

He was earning about $275k a year in Vegas.
Now, he collects $78k a year in pension, while doing this job in Hawaii.
He was in charge of SWAT (Levy Hancock’s boss) and K9 units - Bitsko and Newton’s boss.
