Between 20,000 and 50,000 Ukrainians have lost one or more limbs since the start of the war.

The Wall Street Journal writes about this, noting that these figures are comparable to the First World War.

The publication cites the data with reference to the Kiev charitable organization Houp Foundation and the German manufacturer of prostheses Ottobock. The latter, in turn, rely on the data of the leadership of Ukraine and partner companies.

The article notes that the actual number of injured may be even higher, since the process of prosthetics takes a long time.

The publication writes that at the beginning of the war, the main causes of amputations were artillery and rocket attacks. Now the soldiers are getting injured, undermined by mines, installed along the entire front line.

+1000000

That is what is so sick about this. A vengeful spite against a “communist” Russia that no longer exists that sends hundreds of thousands uselessly to their deaths.

And they get a meaningless medal and crutch as consolation.

Thank you for your reply.
I am looking to make the best humanitarian effort of a bad situation which I was not asked to approve beforehand.
Cannot both our people and those Ukes who we encouraged to persist be aided?

Hmmm. That’s a pretty big rang. All the media said the Ukraine was winning since April 2022. I’m so confused now.

The Democrats don’t care how many Ukrainians they cripple or maim to cover up Democrat crimes in Ukraine.

more of your ongoing Russian propaganda

which wouldn’t be happening if Russia wasn’t losing

Ukraine can surrender any time they like ... yet there’s no evidence they have any desire to do so, they want to save their country

get used to a 7-year war, Russia ... and probably, Putin being thrown out a window in the end ...

Peepers masturbating furiously.

“Where is best to go from here?

If you are serious about helping innocent people you will stop the war mongers who start these wars - and most of them are right here in our own swamp.

How many of those limbs were lost to blood clots from Covid shots?

I was never a fan of endless wars with nor goals or exit strategies. The people who run Biden seem to offer open ended commitment to give the Ukes enough to drag it out but not to win or gain advantage for negotiating. Is that to enrich the industries that build the armaments we are giving the Ukes?
Ukes look set up to eventually fail by attrition. Terrible loss of life on both sides. I understand there is history and prior bad behavior here.

If only Ukraine had not been duped by western propaganda, rejected meddling by the state department and instead decided to just to remain a neutral state, even going as far as to work with their neighbor Russia. They would be better off today, although the MIC would take exception to that.

I didn’t mean to imply that your sympathy for the ukes is misplaced.

Helping people is always a good thing. It’s just that my whole life I’ve had to listen to sanctimonious Leftists preaching about charity, while turning a blind eye to the Leftist policies that cause the poverty in the first place.

There was this one friend who joined Doctors Without Borders - you can hardly fault him for sacrificing a wealthy life style to go suffer in the most impoverished places in the world - I doubt he’s a good person and obviously an intelligent one.

But when I talk to him about politics he’s completely got his head up his ass. He understands nothing about individual freedom and rights. He thinks the government is somehow immune from corruption and they should be given power over us to compel us to “do the right thing”.

Since people don’t all give up their wealth and property to the poor like he does, the government should have the power to take it in taxes. He thinks we need more tax and regulation - but the borders should be open.. criminals should be set free.

For a doctor he sure is an idiot.

Sorry for ranting

Thanks. It wasn’t ranting.
No great options here at this point and not really sure what the best way forward is anymore.
Apparently the ones running Joe Biden are hell bent on continuing to supply not enough for the Ukes to win or gain negotiating advantage but enough to prevent the Russians from rolling in either. Attrition realities mean this is limited-time hangout strategy which will kill and maim so many on both sides and waste our resources in a never can win effort. I resent that we are being lied to that we are giving the Ukes what they need because we aren’t. We may never be able to without triggering thermonuclear war globally either. Tired of Nuke countries like Russia, China and N. Korea making nuke threats without consequences to them also.
