Former President Trump claimed that fellow Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has “basically copied everything” he has said on immigration.
“Well, his plan is my plan,” Trump told Semafor on Tuesday. “I mean, he’s basically copied everything I said — catch and release, finish the wall.”
The former president also suggested that he had already implemented the Florida governor’s proposal of using “deadly force” against migrants suspected of drug trafficking, adding that he “would do it” again, Semafor reported.

I don’t trust DeSantis at all. He’s just another politician with a “conservative” button on.
To me he’s 2024’s version of 1016’s Cruz.

What the heck? Is Ted Cruz too liberal for you? He’s a fake conservative?
If he did, and Trump had four years, then why is this necessary? Oh, yeah, Trump relied on EOs and failed to do what he said, failed to make it lasting, so we’re back to square one, and worse. Give Trump a second chance or get someone new, like DeSantis, who as a legislative track record of accomplishing what he sets out to do. I’ll go with DeSantis.

That was my first thought as well. Trump has been tough on illegal immigration.
So has DeSantis.
Let’s say I write 1+1=2. Then later on you write 1+1=2.
That doesn’t mean you copied from me. It does mean we both can do math.
The reality is neither of them are anti-immigration. The only way to stop illegal immigration is not build the tallest wall. The way to stop it is to end the laws that incentivize illegal immigration. Conservative economics 101.
But you do trust some who spent four years stuffing the White House with every RINO and Deep Stater that could be found?

Today I see Nikki Haley is berating Trump for not doing more against China. Instead of criticizing the Biden crime family for getting rich through illegal dealings with the Chi-coms, she's attacking Trump. She didn't seem to have any problem with his China policy when she sat at the U.N. The fact of the matter is that China deliberately released the virus so that they wouldn't be forced to comply with the trade deals that Trump forced them to accept. China was the biggest entity that benefited from Covid. Trump was the first President to hold China's feet to the fire. When he stopped travel from China during Covid, he was maligned in the press, and by Democrats.
The GOP was against Conservatives long before Trump came along.
He wants to get the nickname of copycat so people will say, hmm, maybe we can get Trump policies without Trump. They don’t appreciate how much we want both. Also, Linda is right on this fact, there are no Trump policies without Trump. Desanctimonius isn’t willing to do what Trump does, he won’t get Trump’s policies implementing. Moreover, immigrants is one issue but Trumps policies are vastly different than the Repukes on Trade, manufacturing base, social security, foreign policy (his strongest policy)
Actually, finding areas of agreement is fundamental diplomacy and tact. Gov DeSantis effectively employs this basic skill.
I don’t remember Trump deputizing the states LE and authorizing them to stop the illegals ...
