A man is dead and a woman was taken to the hospital after they were shot while allegedly trying to steal a truck from a hotel in Lynnwood early Tuesday morning.

According to the Lynnwood Police Department (LPD), officers responded to the Best Western Alderwood around 2:35 a.m. Tuesday after a man in his late 20s called 911 saying he shot a man and a woman who were “in the act of stealing his truck” in the parking lot. The hotel is located on the 19300 block of 36th Avenue West, which is a couple blocks north of the Lynnwood Event Center.

The man reportedly shot at the pair while they were in his truck. The truck then rolled into the corner of a nearby business.

“hope he can show he shot in self-defense”

It might be about time anyone carrying for self defense should also start carrying a spare “drop gun” that isn’t traceable back to you, like the cops used to do.

Would be an unquestioned shoot if he was in Texas.

Where I live in Idaho, the shooter would be elected the next Mayor.

Private citizens in the State of Washington have much broader authority to use deadly force than law enforcement officers.

Shooting at a fleeing felon is well within the law. The fact that that Lynnwood is in Snohomish County is also good. The Sheriff is not concerned with the the result of criminal conduct.

Your car / truck is your horse.

That’s a bit non-sensical, these days. Sure, it’s transportation. Is it potentially life-threatening to be denied use of your car? Life-or-death, execute the thief on the spot? Good luck with that.
