The President has very little to do with Social Security. But, most Americans have very little idea what the President can do.
As of now, Trump has promised to not cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. That's a plus or minus for some.
The funding for social security and Medicare, is inadequate for the future expected expenditures for those programs.
We are collectively incapable of discussing these issues. Then we get into Democrats saying Republicans want to throw granny off the cliff. So then nothing will be done realistically.
Does Trump have a plan to deal with the impending Social Security collapse? Or is he just going to crank up the money-printing machines and kick the can down the road, while criticizing those who want to address the issue?
Ever notice that Trump's default position sounds a lot like the Democrats?
You want to permenently end the GOP’s ability to win majorities in Congress or win the White House?
Do what DeSantis wanted to do and watch the Media and the DNC crush the GOP with constant attack ads yelling that GOP want’s to kill Grandma.
Instead of actually trying something such as shutting down agencies that are not constitutional (Education, EPA, etc.) and cutting off all allocations of funds being given to Illegal Aliens, etc., DeSantis wants to get the retired Americans that have legally been forced to pay into a retirement system completely apoplectic or angry at the GOP for stealing money they rightfully believe is theirs.
Lots of politicians of both parties want to kick the can down the road. We have a situation in which politicians of both parties are unable or unwilling to understand the financial problems ahead, unable or unwilling to explain in plain English to voters what’s involved, unable or unwilling to talk about some of the trade offs and tough choices that would need to be made to deal with all of this.
Jorge Bush tried it at the beginning of his 2nd term and got the sh!t kicked out of him for his trouble.
Tough choices don’t poll well.
Well there you go. These problems are nothing new, and in 2005 , George Bush came up with some plans to deal with it. His plans were shot down and nothing has been done about it since. The political will isn’t there, and the ability to make tough choices and trade-offs, just will not happen with our elected officials.
Full disclosure, both me and mrs. abb collect SS, so my opinions aren’t completely independent.
But it is red-a$$ing to see nowhere near the alarm from the Uniparty over money for Ukraine, welfare, endless federal agencies, and climate change.
And then they try to tell us SS is the problem. I don’t think so.
The best hire Trump ever made was in Scotty Pruitt to take a flamethrower to the EPA.
He used congressionally-mandated funds on frivolities such as sound-proof telephone booths and football tickets, instead of using this money to enforce job-destroying environmental regulations.
Keep in mind, he couldn’t give the money back. EPA funds were appropriated by federal law.
Liberals had a fit. They believe the EPA belongs to them regardless of who is in the White House.
Trump demanded Pruitt’s resignation.
DeSantis is a low effort, low charisma tool of the failed USA ancien regime. He lacks the basic intelligence, integrity and character to do anything other than more of the same- a low quality noted by his quick turn against President Trump and MAGA after paying slavish obeisance to get elected. He is a hollow man, a facile puppet, like so many in the current climate.
I was reading that McDonalds corporate is cutting a bunch of staff and will cut the pay of those who wish to stay employed. Makes you wonder why. Oh yeah... those wonderful big pay raises they got and the supply chain problems. Isn’t this kinda like karma?
Sometimes I wish there were a like button on comments. Yours is one .we were just talking about that today.
Scott Pruitt was a good Attorney General for Oklahoma.
Sure wish he would have run against lankford for Senate.
He would be better than the plumber also.
