Texas Gov. Greg Abbott promised Saturday to pardon a US Army sergeant a day after he was convicted of shooting a protester to death during a Black Lives Matter rally.
The Republican said Sgt. Daniel Perry, 35, was acting in his own defense when he repeatedly fired his handgun on 28-year-old Garrett Foster as he marched in the July 25, 2020 Austin demonstration.
“Texas has one of the strongest ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney,” Abbott said in a statement.
The governor blamed the Friday conviction on the county’s George Soros-backed Democrat District Attorney José Garza and promised to reign in “rogue District Attorneys.”....."

“Protestor”?
It was a riot.
I would imagine Austin Texas is about as fair and impartial as San Fran or New York city which means all legal decisions are based on whether one is leftist or not.
Goverhe nor Abbott is the man of the hour.
Another Soros prosecutor. I wish I could come up with a solution for these pieces of fecal flotsam but we are civilized and such thoughts should be closely held.
The Board of Pardons and Paroles can meet the first thing Monday morning and the governor can have the pardon signed by noon.
Has Abbott directed the AG or Texas Rangers to begin a criminal investigation into this DA who forced the lead detective to change his testimony? The cop released an affidavit detailing how he did so and the precise evidence he was forced to conceal.
Not enough. That board needs to meet in the Governors office monday morning and the AG should begin a criminal investigation into the DA.

The DA withheld evidence.
I was thinkicg that Greg was napping. He seemed to fall off the news map recently.
Soros needs to be stripped of his citizenship and deported.
Why does Abbot feel it necessary to promise to pardon when he can use the same energy and time and just issue a pardon?
Less talking, more doing!

Under the Texas Constitution, he may only pardon people if the Texas Pardon Board recommends it.
Your ignorance of Texas law is showing. He cannot unilaterally issue a pardon.
That’s not how the law works here
Regardless if the governor pardons this soldier, the damage is done. The soldier will lose his career and still have a criminal record.
This is called lawfare and is the favorite weapon of democrats in the ongoing civil war.
What do we know about the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles?
In other words, he’s going to do nothing, but he likes to talk as if he is going to do something.
The Post is an urbanite trashpile run by neocons, foreigners and metro liberals. Not really fake news but yellow news - like Fox.
Note that they completely left out the dead commie pointing his AK at the intended victim. He was just marching according to the yellow journo.
