Democratic groups poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the final two weeks of Maloney's race in a last-minute attempt to win.

New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman, conceded defeat Wednesday in a phone call to Republican challenger Mike Lawler, a spokesperson for Maloney's campaign said Wednesday.

Maloney's concession, first reported by NBC News, came after Democratic super PACs and organizations poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the final two weeks of his race in a last-minute attempt to win.

The Associated Press has not called the race, but with 98% of ballots counted, Maloney comes in at 49.4% of the vote to Lawler's 50.6%.

Top-ranking Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik congratulated Lawler on his win.

"Mike’s victory just sent SHOCKWAVES across the country as he FIRED failed DCCC Chair Sean Patrick Maloney!!" she tweeted.

“..but do so terribly elsewhere in New York in the country?..”

copied from another site:

“..Nobody seems to realize what really happened with the anticipated Red Wave. Biden simply bribed a huge percentage of the likely voters by the Student Relief promises. According to widely posted figures, 26 million Americans (out of 150 million total registered voters) have already applied for the $10 - $20-thousand loan forgiveness. It is most likely that the promise of such monies bribed sufficient numbers to vote democratic and sway the election. Otherwise, it would be impossible to justify the results, given all the economic damage, inflation, Biden’s war... etc. ..”

Aren’t the people who took that program mostly Democrat voters anyway?

Upstate NY is Red, but near impossible to win anything statewide due to the millions of rat votes in NYC.

Chenango county went 70% Republican.

I thought sure the district would go Dim after dropping Ithaca in it.

probably, plus independents and anyone in this younger generation used to getting everything handed to them on a platter. And how many employables are not working, living on the governments largess???

We do have a serious social problem in the US.

There’s always fraud with these f@#$ing people. But sometimes it’s not enough.

2020, they were loaded for bear and unified behind: Get Trump. This year, yeah, they’re doing some cheating here and there. Sometimes it works. If Uncle Festerman wins, that’s one example. But sometimes it’s just not enough. Too many contests in too many jurisdictions to have a focused strategy. If in 2020 they were gunning for a big, orange bear, this time they’re going after ducks, and rabbits, and squirrels, and doves, and quail, and also trout fishing, all at the same time.
