“I want to see Jim Jordan run for Speaker myself. McCarthy would just be another self-inflicted knife in the back.”

In 2018 Jim Jordan ran against McCarthy for leadership of House Republicans. The vote was 159 to 43 for McCarthy. Remember the Republicans under Speaker Paul Ryan had lost the majority and Ryan had quit Congress to make money in the private sector. McCarthy was Ryan’s choice to succeed.

Why would Jordan have a better chance of winning today? Establishment Republicans, not hard core conservatives, comprise the majority of Republicans in the House.

The point is the election wasn’t an endorsement of Trump.

A better man would take the hint and retire. Trump is going to put his ego above the party and the country.

He’s a polarising figure who loses aa many votes as he gets.

He will lose in 2024 if the Dems find the right candidate to run for the White House.

Biden won’t be on the ballot.

I have pondered your theory on my own and hesitate only because I have no data to substantiate it. However, the history of the vote beginning in 2012 could be seen as confirming the idea that digital mining of the electorate is far more effective than even we knew.

More, the theory accounts for the fact that the Republicans simply squandered a perfect storm of opportunity but, surprisingly, without consistent explanation from state to state unless digital mining were applied in some states to a greater degree, or more successfully, than in other states.

Hence Republican triumph in Florida where good candidates and good policies were able to prevail but inexplicable loss in Pennsylvania in the Senate to bad candidate and bad policies.

Having read an MIT article on this subject, I remember posting extensively on the subject after 2012 but the idea of digital mining as a critical influencer of elections lost prominence in the wake of Trump's surprising victory in 2016. You might be right, it bears re-examination now

They need to get rid of the mail in ballots. Don’t trust them.

Trump was yesterday’s Biggest Loser. There was no Red wave, more like a Red Mist. Joe Biden’s “Progressive” agenda was not repudiated. When 63% polled think the government should help pay their utilities, we’re toast.

Trump’s time has passed. I voted for him twice but we need some new blood. Sure he can win in primaries and give red meat speeches but this is the second election cycle where actually cost the conservative movement.

“Sorry, don’t agree. Because of the condition of the country right now, it should have been an absolute trouncing of the Democrats across the board.
Because it wasn’t a trouncing, the reverse is true, it was an absolute repudiation of the Republicans and their policies. We lost “uuuuge” . . .”

This is a unique perspective. Really found your statement profound. The masses have, in my opinion, yet to feel how bad it’s going to get. The intelligent business and working people can already feel it, they know economic hard times are near. These people vote based upon social media, and that media is 100% Democrat. Ultimately, when the SHTF in 2023 and it will, people need to point the finger and say this was the lost opportunity to help the nation.

“In politics there are no coincidences-FDR”. It is no coincidence that the nation experienced a red wave in Florida and no where else. The entities that want Trump out and Desantis in have spoken.

It wasn’t a great election.

Deep State stole the seats it thought it could get away with stealing.

If the Democrats won ANYTHING, they cheated! If you heard what I've heard on the street from all kinds of people including foreigners in AUSTIN, you would know that they cheated to win.

Mr. Trump,
The sad part is, it is starting to look like your “wins” are America’s loss. As of 5:15am MST, there has been one (1) Senate seat flipped. Flipped from Republican to Democrat !!!!!

“There seems to be something wrong with our Republican brand today and it ain’t just Trump, or McConnell, or the quality of the candidates.”

The ideological positioning of the Democrat brand is clear. The votes of Democrat politicians are consistent, predictable, and in alignment with their world view. Democrats are passionately unified because they are aligned philosophically and fully committed to the ultimate goal of a big government, socialist state where elite experts rule the population.

There is no such ideological unity or commitment in the Republican brand. Without commitment to core principles, the brand has no integrity. Republicans claim to be the Conservative party but the definition of conservatism varies. What common values and principles do Donald Trump, Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Dr. Oz, Liz Cheney, Lindsay Graham, Ron DeSantis, Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Thom Tillis, Kari Lake, Larry Hogan, Rand Paul and Brian Kemp share? Does the Republican brand mean the same thing to each of them? If not, it is a weak brand.

It can be argued there is no Republican brand. The commitment of the Republican leaders to individual liberty is lukewarm at best given support for Covid lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and complete silence regarding denial of due process rights to January 6 protestors. Certainly there is no demonstrated commitment to fiscal responsibility or shrinking big government.

The Republican party seems to be comprised of pragmatic political deal makers trying to win elected office by appealing to voters who have rejected Democrat socialism and big government authority. When elected they focus on short term issues, not long term goals. As deal makers, not ideologues, they can be completely flexible in compromising to secure the deals important to them. They can ignore issues of great ideological importance to their voters because their voters have no other option.

Strong brands offer consumers consistency and integrity with respect to the brand values. Democrats have a strong brand because the brand is aligned with their values and it consistently delivers. Democrat politicians never compromise core values. The Republican brand lacks shared values, absolute commitment to values, and consistency.

A political brand whose only consistent message is “They are bad and we aren’t them”, is not a brand. It is at best a default parking place for people seeking an alternative that doesn’t exist. In the United States there is no political party with an unqualified commitment to individual liberty and limited government.
