A group of prominent Christian leaders, including the heads of major denominations, say they submitted a letter earlier this year to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, urging members to examine Christian nationalism and arguing the ideology played a crucial role in the insurrection.
Organizers of the letter, which has not previously been disclosed, told Religion News Service they were approached by a committee investigator on the topic. The resulting statement, dated June 2, was facilitated by Christians Against Christian Nationalism, an effort orchestrated by the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty.
“The ideology of Christian nationalism helped motivate and intensify the insurrection,” the letter reads in part. “We ask the Committee to thoroughly investigate the role that Christian nationalism played in the attack. This investigation into Christian nationalism is important so that history does not repeat itself and so that we understand this threat to our country’s historic commitment to religious liberty and the importance of defeating it.”
Representatives for the House committee did not immediately respond to requests to confirm the faith leaders’ account of why the letter was drafted, or to clarify whether the committee pursued their request and investigated Christian nationalism specifically.
The letter notes the Christians Against Christian Nationalism campaign began at least 18 months before the insurrection took place. That is why, signatories argued, they “recognized the presence of Christian nationalism at the Capitol on that fateful day.” The letter also referenced a report published in February by the BJC and the Freedom From Religion Foundation detailing the role Christian nationalism played in the attack.

Unfortunately I just woke up.
What the signers are most concerned about is the prescence of Chritians in government who are more Christian than they are, and by that I mean Christians who have not/do not water down what the Bible says, just to appease political senses of the time.
If this Christians Against Christian nationalism has been around for a long time...WHAT THE HECK TOOK THEM SO LONG.
Sounds like a bunch of LUNATIC LOONIES.
OR THEY WORSHIP THE GREAT “OPEN SOCIETY” DEITY GEORGE SCHWARTZ/SOROS.
Either way they are in good company with the J6 LUNATICS.
Wonder if that guy Osteen is involved.
Talks something like a religion, but never mentions Jesus.
Major christian leaders, pfft. Buncha nobodies.
Baptist Joint Committee, our modern-day Pharisees following after the flesh and not after the Spirit.
You mean of the House of Hillel on liberal steroids. With periods, as this is the leadership of Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (https://bjconline.org/)
Among other perversions, "they look at religious liberty arguments being made for abortion access and what it takes to make a religious liberty claim." https://bjconline.org/s4-ep-04-a-religious-freedom-right-to-an-abortion/
It wasn’t an “insurrection”!!!!
And these people are TOTALLY lacking in Christian love!! In the days of the Martyrs, they would have turned in their fellow Christians to the pagan Roman authorities!!!!
And a traitor!!!!
Psuedo christian leaders. 😠
Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission (https://bjconline.org/mission-history/)
At Issue Does a business owner have the right to refuse to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple in a state that requires all businesses open to the public not to discriminate against customers because of their “disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, or ancestry”?
BJC Filed a brief arguing no, the baker’s religious beliefs do not provide a blanket exemption to state laws that protect customers against discrimination in the commercial marketplace. Granting an exemption in this case could drastically undermine nondiscrimination laws which provide important protections for religious customers.
Outcome The U.S. Supreme Court sidestepped the central question in its June 4, 2018, ruling against Colorado, saying the commission had not enforced the law properly.
RIGHT to an abortion? Really!!
The BJC has always held some views we would not have agreed with, but it appears they have really gone overboard. 20 years ago that type of thing you have highlighted would not have been on the radar for them to have been involved with or advocated.
These people are Religious In Name Only
When communists have taken over the “leadership” of churches, you know then that the “long march through the institutions” is pretty much complete. Any “pastor” who signed such as request should be immediately fired from their church and told to go and spend a few years reading the Bible and studying God’s word.
A true Pastor of God’s people does not just bow down to decadence and evil, but instead stands tall and unwavering as they fight against the principles of darkness.
The failures of the church is one of the main reasons God has removed his hand of protection from our nation.
Lutheran (EL C S*A) Ping!

Be rooted in Christ!
Here’s where the feminazi “bishop” Elizabeth Eaton came from:

No surprise!!!!
They do not speak for anyone, like the race-baiting REvrends in office.
Big shock.
I do not trust any big mainstream “churches” anymore.
They are all apostate.
And now they are turning in those that don’t fit their narrative.
ELCA is anti-Christ. I wish they’d drop “Lutheran” from their name.
And it does not mean the extremely rare cases where the mother's life is actually very much in peril, but the rest. The right that is wrong.
