Absolutely astronomical figures in this InfoWars lawsuit out of Connecticut.

Alex Jones owes $229 million to just the first three plaintiffs, all family members of Sandy Hook victims.

There are nine more plaintiffs to go.

Even Jones gave up trying to add up damages: "We've lost count, it's in the billions."

The First Amendment protects you from the government, not the government from you. It never ceases to amaze me that as a non-U.S. citizen I know that and actual citizens don't.

I think the trial court finding was that he encouraged the abuse of the parents of the dead kids. Those parents were harassed and threatened by people the court felt were motivated by Jones.

I don’t know, I wasn’t at Newtown nor was I in court.

It happened in Connecticut so of course that’s where they held the court. I won’t lose to sleep over it. He’s a jerk. He literally said that the shooting was a fake story. I mean seriously these parents buried their child. However, the amount is ridiculous.

I just did a search. And he’s only worth 10 million? That doesn’t seem like much at all in the big scheme of things.

Yes it is completely unbelievable. Not a single person went to triage. The kid was not a 95 lb weakling, more like a 65 lb mentally retarded weakling. Sorry, but mentally retarded is a medical term, and I use it when I see fit, not changing it to challenged, or special. Plus they had the event set up beforehand with the sign “Event sign in ???”.

If I were Alex Jones I would have asked for birth certificates, death certificates, report cards etc for each victim. Nobody ever proved it happened. It was like “The Truman Show”.

I personally believe it was a real event, but the Coroner and Robby Parker? Come on man... There is something fishy in that town. Potemkin Village, filled with families in witness protection?

“Survivors” sung at the Super Bowl, but people looking at the situation couldn’t even get proof of standard forms from the schools which must be signed by parents and approved by the School...

FISHY...

I don’t think he has a choice. I will force him to sell anything but his house.

If he personally murdered those kids, the families would recover less. This is utterly political BS. He should immediately declare bankruptcy, and give everyone on the other side of this the finger.

Yep as to the discovery issues. However, the 1st Amendment issues were different from what you outline here.

See 11 USC 523(a)(6).

There is much case law as to whether defamation falls within the (a)(6) exception to discharge.

It’s not nearly as cut and dry as you seem to think.

:-)

If Jones were a simpering pajama boy, what would the award be, if anything? Would he have even been brought to trial? This is a political show and punishment.

A simpering pajama boy wouldn’t have said the hateful things Jones said in the first place.
Jones is getting everything he deserves.

You’re right. Yet not one in 100,000 Americans even know of the lawsuit. We are inches away from Roland Freisler justice.

I understand why Jones questioning of whether the shooting occurred and whether or not the kids really died can be framed as him libelling the parents although he never accused them of lying personally, you can infer that it was implied.

The fact that he has a well known platform and was known for making controversial statements meant the establishment were always going to go after him.

As for the event. I watched an interesting documentary called “We need to talk about Sandy Hook” that posed a lot of questions that I don’t think have ever been answered. A lot of the parents exhibited little or no grief when giving interviews to the press on the very next day after the event. I expect I would be incapable of holding an interview and would be a blubbering mess in their position.

There was drone footage of the fire station/assembly hall that showed people entering one entrance going out another exit, and then circling around again. It was strange.

There were eyewitnesses who gave conflicting facts when recounting their stories to different news groups.

There was one parent who seemed to have donned an FBI uniform and patrolled around with a couple of agents. He was tall and overweight and had a distinctive wart on his face. He clearly didn’t know how to hold a rifle safely, and once ducked for cover behing a car when approaching the press. He was nicknamed “sloppy sniper” and a guy by the alias Barry Soetoro did a series of clips showing his strange behaviour.

If you look at the massive spike in mass shootings under the Obama administration, it does not seem that far fetched to think that some of the events could have been staged to drum up support for gun control legislation.
