California, the country’s most populous state and the center of U.S. car culture, is banning the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles starting in 2035, marking a historic step in the state’s battle against climate change.
But the rule does phase out such vehicles over time, requiring 35% of total new vehicle sales to be powered by batteries or hydrogen by 2026 and 68% by 2030.

Well, they cut off education a couple of decades ago, and
no one complained.
Yet another reason to leave CA.
Are they only banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, or will they also refuse to register new cars purchased out-of-state?
Car dealerships in bordering states are smiling.
The destruction of businesses in Kalifornia continues.
The entire fuel industry will be decimated. ENJOY THE SUCK!
If they do implement the ban, and sticks through 2035, then, they will have killed their economy and an exodus from the states will ensue (or will start way ahead of the deadline); the exodus will include their residents and most of their businesses.
California will become the poorest state in the country, after being probably the richest for decades.
AOC says we are going to be done in about 4 years so why worry abt 2035?
The only choice the rats want you to have is to kill your baby. All others will be the State’s. And the evil pricks call us the fascists.
I yam gambling on Reno.

Yah, sure, this will work out just as well as Germany “Going Green” and shutting down their coal and nuclear power generation.
Oh wait, now they are restarting them when faced with reality!
Someone else will take the hit when this fails so current pols are safe.
Completely unconstitutional. It violates the Commerce Clause as well as individuals rights to travel freely.

The rule with emissions is that if you go to Texas, for example, to buy a used (or new) car that isn’t California certified, you cannot register it in California. But if you’re one of the 17 or so people actually RELOCATING* to California, then you can bring the cars you already own with you (not sure how that works if you buy it new the day before you leave Texas).
So probably something similar with gasoline/diesel cars.
*if you are relocating to California, please seek professional help first.
I think by 2034, they will announce that they will postpone the enforcement of the law until 2040. There will only be few ICE vehicles left to buy. Used cars will be expensive, most likely.
Trust the science! Especially if the video is narrated by Leonard Nimoy! LOL
2035/ Well that may just mean that Jay Leno’s Garage will be the next 21st Century General Motors.
He certainly has a head start & enough inventory to get through the firs year or so.
I the young people today had half a brain they could look up the covers of EVERY damn magazine from the 70’s and 80’s with their pictures of the HUGE ice age coming in 10 years THEN the 80’s when the ice age didn’t arrive HUGE heat waves coming going to fry everyone in 10 years THEN the late 90’s started just climate change the problem here is the generation that has lived through all of this BS for decades are dying off and the younger generation doesn’t know any better and are being indoctrinated to all of these lies!! The grandparents that ARE ALIVE should be educating their grandchildren and great grandchildren with the proof it is ALL available on line!!
UHaul will see a spike in business as non-woke Californians move out of state.
Good luck with a weak energy grid unable to handle all the charging of vehicles and people will find themselves unable to get a charge on their electric vehicle.
