Leftists Crushed in School Boards Across Florida
Breitbart.com ^ | 8/24/2022 | BRECCAN F. THIES

Florida flipped multiple major school boards from liberal to conservative Tuesday evening, continuing a nationwide trend of parents taking back control of public schools.

Florida school board elections have been a major political battleground this cycle, with big names like Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R) making endorsements and joining the campaign trail.

While primary elections occurred in Florida, New York, and Oklahoma Tuesday, Florida has general elections for school boards, meaning the winners will be the official members of the boards.

Many of the winning candidates have been endorsed by the 1776 Project PAC, an organization that has been instrumental in flipping school boards from liberal to conservative across the country.

“We saw massive election victories all throughout the state of Florida tonight,” 1776 Project PAC founder Ryan Girdusky told Breitbart News Tuesday. “It shows the desire of parents and residents across the country for some normalcy in our education system, and that means pushing against transgender ideology, critical race theory, critical gender ideology, and equity which destroys merit in education.”>>>

>>>With a surge of concerned parents due to the revelations about critical race theory, gender ideology, and equity proliferating in K-12 schools, school boards across the country are flipping to conservative control.

School board races used to be defined by their low voter turnout and uncontested races.

Since 2021, education has become a winning issue for conservatives and parents looking to keep their children safe from leftist indoctrination and unsolicited medical treatment.

I’ve always wondered about school board members where I’ve lived. I was always especially wary of ones who didn’t have ANY children in the system (or just out of it) who seemed to gravitate towards DEI pressure or other social media pressure.

I can understand an older person with kids long out of school being interested in maintaining school effectiveness, traditions, morals, etc. - even to the point of being a stickler on keeping costs down to ease the bite on homeowners.

It just seems to me, though, that I read of so many school board members across the country just not caring about any of the traditional “parent stuff” - only agendas, and they are damned authoritarian about it, and costs bedamned.

It’s good news to see that FL leads the nation now on taking it back.

Why is it that some counties like Flagler county hide their association with political parties? In this recent election there were four positions and the candidates were all listed as “non”.

I am glad to see that result.

But it brings up the problem we have in Florida where the school boards intentionally put property tax increases on a Special Ballot or on the Primary Ballot.

We know the turnout is much less in special and primary elections and that is how the school boards get their property tax increases passed.

Instead, all property tax increases should be on the GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT.

Depending on the state, it can be pretty easy to withdraw kids from PS. We have homeschooled for 18 years so far, with one more at @ 2nd grade right now. Is it easy? Nope. I work, my wife teaches, we have gone without for a long time. I know single parents who both work and homeschool. Tone down the hostility a little and realize that everyone has different experiences, needs and priorities.

Personally, I would (and have) worked three jobs to allow my wife to stay home and teach our children to keep them out of the tragedies that the public schools have become.

Thanks for that, but please tell me how everyone except myself knows some are leftist? I looked at the candidates bios and couldn’t find any hint.

And what you write is a problem in Florida. School board races are non-partison and it is hard for the average voter to know anything about the candidate.

It would be better if Florida made school board seats a partison position. School boards are very political so I could see no blowback if candidates were DEM or GOP.

Maybe then the Florida Senate would finally pass the bill to stop automatic union dues deductions from paychecks. Let the teachers have to write the checks themselves and see if they keep doing it.

Exactly

Same for those people that just chime in and say oh take your kids out of public school and homeschool. Everybody situations different. Like my deacon friend neighbor says, the problem with church is, ....church people.

Yes, he won 25 of 30! Very important for the GOP to start getting involved in these local elections and drive the Left out.

That is how Democrats win elections, by claiming to be nonpartisan. No election is non partisan for a Democrat.

That needs to happen across the nation, and not just school
boards either. City councils need to suffer the same fate!
