At the White House, Matthew McConaughey Calls for Politicians to Seize ‘Window of Opportunity’ for Gun Control

Actor Matthew McConaughey appeared at the White House press briefing on Tuesday, endorsing a series of gun control proposals that coincided with some of President Joe Biden’s radical agenda.

“As I said, this moment is different,” McConaughey said while appearing at the White House press briefing room. “We are in a window of opportunity right now that we have not been in before. A window in where it seems like real change — real change can happen.”

McConaughey said he spent time with the victims and families of the mass school shooting in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas last week that killed 19 children and two adults.

“How can the loss of these lives matter?” McConaughey asked reporters. “While we honor and acknowledge the victims, we need to recognize that this time, seems like something else is different.”

McConaughey grew emotional as he shared the stories of the children who were shot and killed during a mass shooting at an elementary school at his hometown of Uvalde, Texas, at points tearing up and slapping the podium.

He specifically called out the AR-15 rifle for mutilating the bodies of the children leaving them “not only dead but hollow.”

McConaughey said he was bringing a message from the people of his hometown.

“We want secure and safe schools and we want gun laws that won’t make it so easy for the bad guys to get these damn guns,” he said.

He also told reporters to “restrain sensationalized media coverage” of mass shootings.

“Responsible gun owners are fed up with the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals,” he said, calling more gun laws a “step forward” to protecting gun rights.

McConaughey just said on Fox, When you go in the military, you get a lot of training before they allow you to put a round in that semi-automatic.

I've never heard such self-cancelling points.

Why don’t we seize the opportunity for schools security instead of canceling individual rights?

Then give the gun dealers access to the juvenile criminal records, Matt.

I found this from 2018

While speaking at the Austin, Texas, student march for gun control on Saturday actor Matthew McConaughey urged law-abiding gun owners to “take one for the team” and give up their “assault weapons.”

People magazine quoted McConaughey as saying, “Let’s ban the assault weapons for civilians. This is a no-brainer. And to my friends out there that are responsible owners of these recreational assault weapons that they use for recreation, please let’s just take one for the team here and set it down. That issue saves lives.”

McConaughey also called for a ban on “high capacity” magazines, according to People, saying, “Let’s restrict the capacity of the magazines. Look here: in the state of Texas, we have a three shell limit to hunt migratory birds. Do the math. You get my point.”

On October 21, 2014, Breitbart News reported that the True Detective star acknowledged that Americans have a right to own guns but he suggested we “forget that right” because some people misuse their guns.

The Oscar-winner told GQ his approach to changing the name was much like his approach to gun laws: “It’s like my feeling about gun control: ‘I get it. You have the right to have guns. But look, let’s forget that right. Let’s forget the pleasure you get safely on your range, because it’s in the wrong hands in other places.’”

MURDER is illegal.
Attempting murder is illegal. A felon owning a gun is illegal.
Shooting people indiscriminately is illegal.
Using firearms in a criminal manner is illegal.
Criminals do not go through background
checks when purchasing illegal guns.

Explain how criminals
will follow new laws.
Explain how new laws will make us safer.
Explain how restricting law-abiding citizens even more will make us safer.
Oh, you can’t? Then your argument is invalid.
