In the weeks since a federal judge in Florida struck down the federal mask mandate for planes and other transportation settings, Americans have met the change with a mix of excitement and concern. Some travelers welcomed the news, even cheering on planes when pilots announced the ruling. For others, the prospect of flying with unmasked seatmates has been a source of anxiety.
The Justice Department said it would appeal the decision, but the rule has been dropped for the time being. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommends wearing a mask on flights.
If you are nervous about flying on an aircraft full of bare faces, you can take steps to make the journey less daunting. Below, psychology and etiquette experts offer advice on how to calm your nerves and courteously navigate a maskless flight.
While you might need to travel by plane for weddings or funerals, Thomas Plante, a psychology professor at Santa Clara University, said travelers might consider doing a cost-benefit analysis on whether to fly for pleasure trips. “I think the public really does want to say to themselves, ‘Okay, what am I willing to do and not do?’” he said. “‘What’s worth it and not worth it?’”
Before your trip, make a plan, said Andrea Bonior, a psychologist and Georgetown University faculty member who has contributed to The Washington Post. “I don’t think rehearsing is too much in this situation,” she said. Think about how many masks you will bring and how you will eat and drink if you don’t want to do so on the plane, and build in extra time to further reduce stress.
If wearing a mask makes you feel safer, Plante said, you can wear a quality one, such as an N95 or KN95, regardless of what others choose...

Maybe a fit of sneezing or wiping your forehead would cause them to move? Or, ask them if they’ve been vaccinated, and if so, how many people have they infected. Thank them for wearing a mask.
I fake cough around maskers abd I suppose it’s pretty childish of me but masks really seem to offend me. Especially now in May ‘22 outside... like come the F on..

I WANT my seatmates to be Masked....saves ME from doing it.
I lost any respect for health professionals/experts very early on into the pandemic. I scored on a surgical mask after being forced to wear a scarf or tee shirt to get food. The packaging said the mask doesn't protect against viruses. The ridiculous decrees by these morons are too numerous to cite in any detail, but my favorite experience was the first trip to the golf course after shutdown restrictions were reduced. Tee times were 20 minutes apart and max 2 people allowed to play while walking and no overtaking the group ahead allowed. A golfing buddy and I violated that decree after a couple of holes.
Ask for $100.
They refuse.

ignore ‘til they tap on your shoulder and then look at them and say “ahhh defff” while pointing at your ear, and then shrug shoulders and point to your lips and say “ahhh redddd lipzzzz” and go back to reading your paperback ...
