Levi Strauss to reimburse abortion travel for employees

(Reuters) - Levi Strauss & Co said on Wednesday it will reimburse travel expenses for its full- and part-time employees who need to travel to another state for health care services, including abortions.

The apparel company best known for its jeans is the latest U.S. company to offer the benefit as various states clamp down on access to abortions.

And now, the U.S. Supreme Court looks set to vote to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide, according to a leaked initial draft majority opinion published by Politico on Monday.

"Given what is at stake, business leaders need to make their voices heard and act to protect the health and well-being of our employees. That means protecting reproductive rights," the company said in a statement.

Citigroup Inc became in March the first major U.S. bank to make a similar commitment.

They don’t hold up to the rigors of outdoor ranch work. Denim, however, is pretty sturdy.

Levi’s are garbage anyway. Made in Pohckistan.

These jeans are sourced and made in the USA and are damn comfortable and look good too: www.originmaine.com

I burned my Levi’s. They suck.

ROFLOL!

So...a company where 99% of their products are made outside the USA is making a statement like this?

Here is a fact. Levi Strauss is a slave labor company.

I would like to see their average wage per hour in dollars worldwide.

So disgusting to see these lunatics crapping all over themselves to support killing babies. Man, we are at a low point in history.

Why not just pay for them to be on birth control. Thats even cheaper. Or a seminar on personal responsibility or sexual restraint?

I buy my jeans at All American Clothing company anyway. Don’t need Indonesian imports.

Haven't bought Levis since they started making them in Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and lately Vietnam. IOW a long time ago.

Switched to Diamond Gusset long ago. Made in America. Pricey but they're more comfortable and fit me better. They last me much longer than the imports too.

There are a few other brands made in America but never tried them. If anyone has experience with other US made jeans please post.

I wear jeans to work-and everywhere else with few exceptions same as everyone else out here-the only Levis labeled jeans I’ve seen were on guys at work-and not that many-they’ve been too expensive for years-isn’t it time they just gave in and gave up?

The jeans that are sold online from the discount places out of Florida, etc are more practical if you wear jeans all the time-they are 1/2 the price of the big name brands, there is a better selection-of small size/tall length for slim women like me, as well as attractive non-mom jeans for bigger women, more lengths for shorter and taller guys, etc-I don’t care that my jeans are made in Indonesia, Guatemala, or even China-at least I’m not funding an abortion vaca for some dumbass Levi employee...

Since January I might have worn a pair 4 times.

Lived in sweat pants or cargo shorts. Had surgery to recover from and am well on the way I think.

Right at Christmas I bought new pairs to replace all my worn ones. I’ve lost so much weight, they are very baggy.
