Woodward pushes 25th Amendment, says a 'crazy' president could trigger nuclear war

The U.S. government faced a potential nuclear crisis in 2020, when Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, fearing then-President Donald Trump would order the U.S. military to strike China, plotted to thwart any such directive with a scheme that one prominent Republican lawyer likened to “‘The Caine Mutiny’ with plutonium.”

The podcast was taped with New York litigator George Conway and Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carol Leonnig on the panel. All three, to varying degrees, expressed skepticism as to whether Trump will ultimately be indicted for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election — despite the substantial evidence that he and his allies mounted a pressure campaign in Congress and with state officials to achieve that.

Woodward said, “If the Justice Department, the federal government, indicts Trump, they solidify Trump as the 2024 Republican candidate for president.”

Woodward argued that there are more pressing issues Congress and media should be grappling with, most urgently the prospect that a “crazy” president could on his own trigger a nuclear war.

“It's less important that Donald Trump be prosecuted than that … we should perform the operation of the 25th Amendment,” he said, referring to the constitutional provision that authorizes the Cabinet, with the consent of the vice president, to declare a sitting president unfit for office.

The country faced such a potential crisis in 2020, when Milley, according to reporting by Woodward and his co-author, Robert Costa, in their book “Peril,” feared that an unstable Trump was about to order a nuclear hit on China.

“My God, the Chinese thought we were going to attack them before the 2020 election,” Woodward said. “Gen. Milley and people in the Pentagon were — and not just disturbed, were apoplectic about it, and apoplectic about Trump and his mental state.”

My bride of almost 50 years was born in Czechoslovakia in 1952. She, her sister, father and mother fled the country just after the Russian occupation in 1968. They left their entire lifetime’s belongings - home and existence.

One of the things she told me about recently was about how Walmart has such nice bananas. All either slightly green and/or nice-yellow and scrumptious.

I was puzzled...she then told me of her early years. They, Czechoslovakia, used to get the infrequent shipment of the delicacy ‘bananas.’ They were all mottled and brown, and overripe. They didn’t know any better and were delighted in that sweet tasting mushy delicacy. They, brown and mottled were all she or anyone knew - they loved them.

Why am I relating this? When you’re a fecking liberal and brought up on nothing but bullshit, some old coot like Bob Woodward is somebody you’re supposed to take seriously instead of the posed up and inflated nobody he really is. Rant off...

The Leftist fake news and propaganda machine produces an echo chamber - an alternate reality.

And apparently some of them get so immersed in it they start to believe their own lies - at least the dumb ones.

They cited the wrong movie - not The Caine Mutiny, but, rather, Mutiny on the Bounty.

Bob Woodward is affected by age. He no longer has the mental capacity for clear thinking. If he did, he would not say the things he has said lately.

These deep-thinking ideologues got what they wanted and now they want to take back what they did and eat it their fruit loops.
I feel ashamed they some how represent thinking people of the human race.

No need to rant. Your example is a good analogy along with Russian housewife going to a supermarket for the first time. Or recently a Cuban refugee on YouTube trying food and sports he never could do in the old country now he’s living in America.

A President (any President) does not have the ability to single handedly launch nuclear weapons. He has a “release” that is only one of several “votes” required to actually launch a nuclear weapon.

With Biden there in this condition, they pass him by and point at Trump.

Some of these people should be tried for treason.

“My God, the Chinese thought we were going to attack them before the 2020 election,” Woodward said. “Gen. Milley and people in the Pentagon were — and not just disturbed, were apoplectic about it, and apoplectic about Trump and his mental state.”

In other words, the Chinese attacked the U.S. with biological warfare to enable their agents in the U.S. to rig the 2020 elections, and Milley was fearful Trump would take action about it.

Woodward was an naval intelligence officer who gave briefings in the Nixon White House. In particular, he briefed Gen. Al Haig, and then they both lied about it for years, because Haig was Deep Throat, (or at least one person of a group). So, contrary to the myth many on the left have of Woodward, he is an extremely devious person and always had a hidden agenda.

The best explanation I have for Watergate, is that G. H. W. Bush wanted to force Nixon and Agnew from office, (and Ford was damaged pardoning Nixon), to ease his path to the top of the party.
