Russia has one of the largest and most powerful armed forces in the world, but that has not been apparent in its initial invasion of Ukraine. Many military analysts in the West have been surprised by its performance on the battlefield so far, with one describing it as "dismal".
Its military advances appear to have largely stalled and some now question whether it can recover from the losses it has suffered. This week, a senior Nato military official told the BBC, "the Russians clearly have not achieved their goals and probably will not at the end of the day". So what has gone wrong? I have spoken to senior Western military officers and intelligence officials, about the mistakes Russia has made.

But they didnt deploy a 1,000,000 man army. They went in with 200,000 at most. A totally inadequate force for the length of front they have ended up with.
They seem to have difficulties actually mobilizing that 1,000,000, probably because most of them are conscripts doing their 1-year enlistments.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant the Russian army. I agree with you. At this time I think the Ukrainians outnumber those Russians actually in-country, maybe by a lot.
Oh but it doesn't. You see, unlike you, I'm very well read on what's going on with the Russia/Ukraine conflict. There's a lot of history here. Globalists have been trying to take over Russia since the Bolsheviks executed the Romanovs and took over the country. Putin is restoring Russia back to it's nationalist, Christian roots. He doesn't want NATO and Deep State elements of our government antagonizing him, so he's defending his nation. If that makes me a Putin apologist, so be it.

Nah, I am an anti-globalist. I for one have seen the Bushes, the Clintons, and the Obamas wreak havoc with their endless wars. We have been lied to, FRiend. It is up to you to realize this, not me to accept your false narratives and "standing" with a country that's the most corrupt in the world.
Their greatest mistake was that it started with a lie. Joint exercises? Then you roll into Ukraine and kill people? I understand the strategy, but your troops need to believe in the cause. Too much shock for a young man to absorb. If he that he was fighting for the region as Putin described it at his “rally” perhaps he’d be on board. Starting with a lie doomed the effort.

I think you have missed some of your history. In 1918-1922 there was a wild ride of Ukrainian nationalists all out for independence from Russia, or what would be the Soviet state.
Guys like the peasant anarchist Nestor Makhno, who doesnt fit in any boxes. A good primer, the best by far I have seen recently, on the Russian revolution, is “A Peoples Tragedy”, Orlando Figes, highly recommended.
And those guys weren’t “globalists”, any more than were the Poles of the 1920s. Thats just a weird attempt to torture the past to fit a modern world view.
