"Are Today's Voter Suppression Laws the New Jim Crow?" What passes for "objective" commentary in academia, specifically, the Chronicle of Higher Education

Academia is so far in the leftist tank, it is both appalling and laughable. The Chronical of Higher Education recently posted this on its website, for which I receive periodic updates, a decision I now regret, but it does allow me to observe developments in higher ed.

The very title of the article is right from the talking points of the Democrat party. Consider the subtitle: "A new surge in voter suppression laws is once again targeting people of color. In history and today, many educators have stood up for democracy."

Really? Preventing fraud and assuming that blacks are not capable enough to vote on voting day is Jim Crow 2.0?

After the mandatory review of black voting history, the author tries to link Southern Democrat racist voting laws with current remedial efforts to stanch the rampant fraud that occurred in the 2020 election.

It continues: "n March, Georgia enacted a new, more restrictive voting law. Among other changes, voters will now have access to fewer drop boxes; they will no longer receive absentee ballots in the mail unless they request them, which impacts many Black voters who tend to vote by mail; and mobile voting centers will no longer be available, unless there is a state of emergency."

Oh the horror!

More: "In state legislatures across the country, politicians have introduced more than 500 similar state bills, at least 30 of which have become law. These measures suppress the voices of many voters—particularly Black, brown, and Indigenous voters, senior citizens, students, and those with disabilities—and are a threat to U.S. democracy."

This is what passes for reasoned thought in the ivory towers of academia. They need to seriously stop their continued racism in the form of soft bigotry of low expectations for minorities. Consider this when sending your children to be maleducated in these institutions of leftist indoctrination.

Sadly, the left continues on its march towards obtaining power through fraud instead of persuasion.

Not a surprise. The CHE (really) has been a vehicle for leftwing propaganda for many years.

The only suppression is the Will of American Citizens who wanted Donald Trump to serve a second term and our votes were suppressed. Period. We aren’t going to let that happen again.

We don't have any voter suppression laws, only one vote per legal voter laws.
The whole notion that there are eligible voters that are prohibited from voting due to discrimination, is a false premise.
However, laws that enable cheating cancels out legal votes and that is a problem.

These are not “voter suppression laws” - and they probably aren’t lying - they may just be very, very stupid and actually believe that - which shows the sad state of affairs “higher education” is these days.

Monumental levels of stupidity.

There are no voter suppression laws.

There are laws on the books to attempt to ensure election integrity. And that only citizens are able to vote.

These are not voter suppression laws.

I think the author meant to say

Really? Preventing fraud and assuming that blacks are capable enough to vote on voting day is Jim Crow 2.0?

It is the liberals that assume that blacks are not capable enough to vote on voting day.

Diversity, equity and inclusion on college campuses result in 10-1 liberals v. conservatives.
