It’s odd to me that they haven’t marketed the electric engines in the ONE way that would make them instantly under demand.
RACE THEM.
But for some reason, they won’t (maybe because of battery lifetime, car weight, etc) But it would certainly go a long way to counter the image that we’re giving up something beautiful for something sterile, cold and unsexy.
How secure are the batteries in a crash — impact, fire, etc?
” RACE THEM. “
The trouble is, there’s no Vroom Vroom!
“RACE THEM.”
They are!
—”But for some reason, they won’t “
A very good question.
Musk and the Germans do not have that aversion.
General Motors did some PR about an electric "crate motor" with batteries, control electronics, etc. that would be a drop in for hot rods like their existing crate motors but I don't think they have delivered on the PR yet.
You raise a decent point from a PR standpoint. But I frankly don’t care about racing. That’s probably true of most people.
Electric races are out there. They look like formula one cars.
It’s weird to watch them run around the track with no engine would.
Maybe they should emulate the sound of a real engine. Maybe even the smell of oil and gasoline.
