A left-wing protest in Washington, D.C., is blocking traffic in the nation's capital to demonstrate against an administration and lawmakers they believe have failed them by not delivering on various promises.
The initiative, dubbed "Shutdown DC," is a joint effort from several activist organizations that are each conducting blockades at different spots near the Capitol building.

America's "grassroots" are at work, making sure the lights are on, that the sewers don't back up, that someone is manning the ER, and somebody is stocking the store shelves. That's something those in Washington know nothing about, dragging yourself out of bed each cold chilly dawn to make this country run.
Astroturf
ShutdownDC was active in disrupting previous events in DC. IIRC, their website, available to be read, explained how to assist in disrupting on January 6.
Astroturf?
Yeah. Ham-handed though. Very commie. Never let it be said the Dems are subtle. They don’t have to be. The newz and every agency has control of the narrative….but they are starting to fail.
That’s probably why the war drums are being banged. Most people have had enough of that game too.
I agree. This is a good thing.
“A CAT D9 would also do the trick. Look what it did to Rachel Corrie.”
Ironically, the Israelis nicknamed their armored CAT D9’s “Doobi” which is Hebrew for Teddy Bear. LOL
The organizers say they want to shut the “Capitol”, with an “0” which refers to the building rather than the city of Washington DC.
So now it’s a left insurrection.
Go up tothe Garden on 49th and get in to a hockey game for 50¢ with your GO card
Watch the guy make glass knick-knacks in the window on 8th just below 42nd.
Double decker buses on 5th.
Maybe catch a glimps of Sugar Ray at the Fascination parlor in Times Square
Watch the guy perform magic tricks in Macy’s
The Camel sign blowing smoke rings
The waterfall on the roof of the Criterion
Oh, and the mandatory stop at Kaufman’s to look at, or possibly buy, wome war surplus stuff
It *WAS* a different world
I recall the Camel smoke ring billboard of course but to be honest the others not so much since we always went into the city fairly late at around 9 pm.
One thing that highlights the differences between today and the “good old days” was when we would go to China Town a week or so before July 4th and load up on fireworks to sell to the kids at school (illegal of course). A Mat (80 packs)of 1.5 inch firecrackers cost 8 bucks and we sold them for $.30 per pack, Cherry bombs were $.25 and and we sold them for $1.00, Depth Charges were $.75 and we sold those for $3.00. Supposedly they had the explosive power of 1/4 stick of dynamite but I have no idea if it was true or not. What I do know is they were dangerous.
We would connect with the sellers by just showing up in China Town where they would spot us in a minute and knew why we were there. WE would hand them the list and the money and they would leave and come back in a few minutes with our order. It was always accurate and after handing us the bag(s) they would escort us to the subway to ensure we were not ripped off.
I remember Horn and Hardart’s Cafeteria and White Castle. We would stop at a White Castle on the way to see the relatives in the Bronx and pick up a sack of 20 burgers for $1.00.
We also used to go to the Rock and Roll shows at the Brooklyn Paramount with Alan Freed as host.
Yeah, the good old days.
