I highly recommend invoking your 5th Amendment rights and Miranda rights with each encounter with law enforcement. ESPECIALLY if you are innocent.
I’ve taught my children that if they ever get questioned by law enforcement to be polite, compliant, and respectful. However, the only words they are to say other than their names and my name, are: “lawyer,” and “I want my parents here.”
I used to think someone pleading the 5th was hiding something. Now, that does apply to politicians, but not to those accused of a crime.
Just put a cop on the stand. Ask the cop how they are trained to respond if they were in the exact same situation. Ask the cop if they would have fired? Ask 10 cops. Then put military personal on the stand. Ask the same question.
That would put this nonsense to rest. There is only a fraction of a second between life or death in Kyle’s situation. End of story. If the defense does not drive this point home then they are negligent. This should even be how the trial closes.
The prosecutor is making Rittenhouse's case.
Of course, they may have miscalculated. If the judge dismisses "with prejudice" there won't be a next time.
It must be difficult for Kyle to sit there and see his mom cry.
So the ADA is asking Kyle to act rationally in a pn unrational situation.
I thibnk that the defendant is a hero. He dropped 3 marxists / anarchists who attacked him , trying to kill or maim him.
Hell. if this was 1956, Kyle Rittenhouse would not even be on trial.
No matter what the result of tyhis trial. the fact that it is televeized nation wide means one thing. IOf these ba$tard anatchists and Marxist try their violence in any other places across America, there will always be a few patriots who will drop them on the spot if they turn violent against them, threatening to kill and maim people.

Your statement is no different than when others say, “If you have nothing to hide, why do you care if (fill in the blank)?” This is usually said in response to someone expressing their rightful outrage at the latest overreach by police or government, usually with respect to searches or surveillance.
Every right in the Constitution exists for a reason, including the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination. I understand your point with respect to government officials who constantly refuse to answer questions, and truly do just hide behind the Fifth, but don’t extend that cynicism to average citizens when they’re being persecuted by the government.
