Gun company Remington has subpoenaed the report cards, attendance records, and disciplinary records of five kindergarten and first grade students murdered in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, according to new court filings in a civil lawsuit filed against the company.
“In mid-July, the defense served a subpoena on the Newtown Public School District seeking: ‘Any and all educational records in your possession including but not limited to, application and admission paperwork, attendance records, transcripts, report cards, disciplinary records, correspondence and any and all other educational information and records pertaining to’ each of the five first-graders whose Estates are plaintiffs in this case,” according to the motion filed today that sought to protect the victims’ families from further subpoenas. “There is no conceivable way that these [records] will assist Remington in its defense, and the plaintiffs do not understand why Remington would invade the families’ privacy with such a request. Nonetheless, this personal and private information has been produced to Remington.”

"We have no explanation for why Remington subpoenaed the Newtown Public School District to obtain the kindergarten and first grade academic, attendance and disciplinary records of these five school children,” Josh Koskoff, one of the lawyers representing the Sandy Hook parents, told Motherboard. “The records cannot possibly excuse Remington’s egregious marketing conduct, or be of any assistance in estimating the catastrophic damages in this case. The only relevant part of their attendance records is that they were at their desks on December 14, 2012.”

Discovery is a female dog. Watch the lawsuits get dropped like a hot potato.
If they are claiming future loses, they may point at grades as lack of future income.
Uh, I have an explanation, but it is one of those banned right wing extremist conspiracy theorists kinda things that shall not be discussed....in the land of the free.
Ambulance chasers deserve the rest of the emergency response.
You would think the attorneys for these parents suing Remington would have been smart enough to tell their clients that during this discovery process anything is fair game. They should have thought about that before they why did you go after Remington.
Maybe they never existed?
ALEX JONES ALERT!!! ALEX JONES ALERT!!!
I was wondering the same.
The article says that the students’ records have been given to Remington.
By Jones, I do say my dear boy, I think you have a smashing theory!
The problem is not that they never existed, the problem is that they may be alive and well and living in Arizona or something....
;-)
Agree!
All erased, with the school that was needlessly bulldozed.
I know! I know!
It’s to prove the kids actually existed and if they existed, to prove whether they are truly dead. If the lawyers have requested these records that means they smell an Alex Jones style rat!
Discovery is allowed to go beyond evidence admissible at trial to include information that, while not admissible - leads to information that is admissible. It’s very broad, and it is intended to be that way to allow both sides to gather information in the hope that a fully developed evidentiary array may help facilitate settlement without trial. The information gathered in discovery is limited by the rules of evidence at trial and what actually is entered at trial may be a very small subset of what is developed in discovery.
Here is one true story about that day that is the reason I smelled a rat (regardless of what anyone else thought about it).
At the time there were paramedics in the large cities of Fairfield County (Bridgeport and Stamford, south of Newtown) that heard about the school shooting on the radio.
Without waiting to be called they immediately drove to their hospital helipads so they could be flown to the site to help rescue the wounded children.
When they arrived their supervisor asked them what they were doing there since they had not been called in....
They explained they had come in so they could get on helicopters to go to the school to save the lives of the kids there.
Their supervisor said they were not needed—there were no wounded children to save.
If the incident were as reported there would have been dozens of wounded children who would have needed urgent medical care.
So—something smelled foul about the whole story.
I have no clue what the truth is, but I am 100% confident that CT officials lied and lied and lied about all elements of it.
Out of curiosity, have those videos been debunked, like the one of the grieving father, in tears at the podium, who was laughing with others right before he got on camera? I’m sure they have by someone somehow.
Did anyone ever explain who the guy in the woods was?
Did anyone ever say why a wealthy, 50 something year old woman, previously married to some Wall St schlep who was paying her around $25k a month, even owned an AR? Does that make any effin’ sense?
If they said she was a skeet and trap shooter from the time she was a teenager and she had a shotgun of two, I can get that. An AR? NOPE NOPE and NOPE.
What’s wrong with a successful mid-50 woman owning an AR?
