Biden’s War on Single-Family Homeowners ... The president wants to put the federal government in charge of zoning.

If you saved your money and bought a house in the suburbs, your investment and lifestyle are under attack. President Joe Biden is pushing to end single-family zoning. The biggest item in Biden’s infrastructure bill, now being negotiated with Congress, is $213 billion he claims will increase affordable housing. Biden wants to put the federal government in charge of zoning and distribute apartment buildings throughout single-family home neighborhoods.

That $213 billion is nearly twice the spending on roads and bridges. It will change towns everywhere and torpedo the American dream of a house with a patch of lawn.

Biden’s plan should be called “hypocrisy housing.” Its backers are hypocrites. Biden himself owns a four-acre lakefront home in upscale Greenville, Delaware, where there is absolutely no public housing, affordable housing or rentals that accept housing vouchers. And don’t expect any to be built next door to the Bidens.

Biden has always had a passion for stately homes and swanky addresses, even buying a 10,000 square foot mansion that once belonged to the DuPont family. Not exactly the image of “Middle-Class Joe.”

Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband own a $5 million gated home on a street of expensive single-family homes in Brentwood, California. That reeks of privilege.

President Barack Obama launched his Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing program in 2015 to ensure that every neighborhood includes housing for low-income buyers and renters and public transportation.

Yet, for their own family, the Obamas bought an $11.75 million Martha’s Vineyard mansion on 29 waterfront acres. Martha’s Vineyard is critically short of affordable housing, according to a public report, but that didn’t stop them.

These politicians love single-family zoning and exclusivity for themselves, but not for the rest of us. The poster person for this hypocrisy is avowed Marxist Patrisse Khan-Cullors, the Black Lives Matter activist who purchased a home in exclusive Topanga Canyon, part of Los Angeles.

The U.S. has a housing shortage. But many municipalities are already dealing with it. They don’t need Washington, D.C., strong-arming local decision-makers.

That’s what Biden’s plan does. The bill creates a gigantic pot of taxpayer funds to hand out to towns that surrender self-rule.

That’s a mistake. Local control is vital. Towns can take into account the availability of public transportation, school capacity and proximity to employment. Uncle Sam has no clue.

Advocates for federal control argue that if anyone can afford a neighborhood, everyone should be able to afford it. That means locating apartment clusters even way out on country roads. Bus routes and bus shelters would have to be built. Roads have to be widened to accommodate traffic, and sewers and water lines are needed. Say goodbye to country living.

Advocates for abolishing zoning mock suburbanites for worrying about home values. But for most people, their home is their biggest investment, and they waited years to afford it.

Local control allows them to be part of the solution. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is pushing to end single-family zoning, while her opponents warn that increasing density will strain schools and transportation and require cutting down the “tree canopy” over the city’s older neighborhoods. Atlantans will decide.

Other communities are building in-town housing for young working people and seniors while allowing homeowners to build accessory apartments for extended family or renters.

Biden’s proposals to make housing affordable are laughable. He calls for “putting union-building trade workers to work” to “save families money.” Right, as if mandating union-only labor has ever been a money saver.

Instead, he should remove the tariff on lumber. Costs are up 300% in a little over a year.

Biden is also proposing a first-time homebuyer’s tax credit of up to $15,000 that buyers can receive at time of purchase, rather than when they file taxes. Paying people to buy homes will push up housing prices. The same way federal college aid and loans have pushed up tuitions.

Biden’s plan won’t expand the American dream. It’s what will kill it.

Every few years the feds come in and try a new scheme to regulate the rural areas.
The feds want to control the beef production in this country using the “climate change” scam.
Thanks for the heads up on the Strassel article, I will check it out.

Author and investigative reporter Stanley Kurtz should be asked about this when interviewed about socialist plans for the suburbs. Because he wrote a book about it

When Obama was an Illinois Senator he and Bill (step on the American flag) Ayers had gained total control of the distribution of funds from the Annenberg foundation which they passed its millions on to lefty fronts offering courses to Illinois and Chicago schools pushing the what soon would be the BLM agenda.

When Obama was doing this Kurtz tried to expose those radical left study programs over a program held by Chicago’s WGN radio’s Extension 720 hosted by Milton Rosenberg and was threatened by protesters who prevented a cohearent presentation.

It is a reminder that the general welfare, prosperity and happiness of the people is not a rat concern.

Totalitarianism is the goal, so it is in the interest of rat power to destroy the middleclass, incite race warfare and stomp every non-rat into sniveling poverty. The best way to wreck the middleclass is through destruction of the value of their homes.

This is the worst idea someone (not Joe, he has no ideas) has come up with yet.

The decline in urban and suburban areas will accelerate if this is put into practice.

obammy started this. It’s to bring theft, rape assault and murder to the suburbs. In the democrat’s dictionary, the suburbs are White. They can’t let Whitey escape the hellholes known as American cities by going to the suburbs, so they are going to destroy that.

Oh and you’ll be paying for it.

Here’s the weak point: The bill creates a gigantic pot of taxpayer funds to hand out to towns that surrender self-rule.

This will require that so-called conservatives get off their fat asses and attend town council, county board and school board meetings. And run for election in these venues. Do that and the whole Biden power grab collapses.

Wake the hell up! There is only one way to live as we always have and that is state-by-state nullification, non-compliance, and secession from the illegitimate tyrannical junta in DC that has usurped the now-defunct former USA. Recognize that fact, accept it, and learn to live with it so you can properly act on it. GOPee Delenda Est!

Wake the hell up! Is everyone on this blog a brain dead GOPee puffer and perpetual sucker? Because of the fraudulent electoral catastrophe of 2020 and its acceptance by the feckless, gutless, spineless GOPee on January 6th, there will never be another legitimate election ever again. Voting is a total farce! The now-defunct USA is dead, dead, dead. And the GOPee voted for it! GOPee Delenda Est!

“Lunch bucket Joe” has his 10,000 square foot mansion, everyone else gets herded into Plattenbau 300 square foot apartments.

Plattenbau - cookie cutter high rises of poor quality in the Deutsche Demokratic Republik. Even worse were the Khrushkovskas in the Soviet Union.

Check behind the light switch panels for the bugs. Not the cockroach type. Play Slayer really loud if the conversation criticizes the Party.

Your “solution” is abject nonsense because it continues to expect that an utterly fraudulent electoral process will miraculously produce a legitimate outcome. It simply will not do so. The only way forward from the political catastrophe of the fraudulent election of 2020 is state-by-state nullification, non-compliance, and secession from the illegitimate tyrannical junta in DC we now suffer under. Get on board with that fight like the true patriots or just keep right on sleepwalking with all of the other GOPee puffers and perpetual suckers that mewl and bray on this site. GOPee Delenda Est!

This is already happening in California. A change in law allowing the state to dictate changes in zoning overriding concerns of local cities and counties. In my town, they changed much of the single-family residence zoning to multi-family multi-story zoning. As a result, a lot of building of high-rise residence towers is happening, despite many complaint meetings by residents. The city says their hands are tied, because the state law is overriding local zoning rules.

Six blocks from my home, there are four large building projects under construction in just a two block radius, with more planned nearby. Where there were single or double story residences, there are now 7 to 16 story high-rise buildings being erected. Imagine living in a one-story home near a 16-story building. And there are inadequate parking spots as it was, and planners say new tenants will have to park on the streets. Insanity!

Establishing an operational base is nonsense to you.

Well, at least you illustrated what you know about political strategy - nothing.

Be useful and learn how to clean shitcans.

I leave the shitcan cleaning to the GOPee puffers and perpetual suckers like you. And tell me about political strategy when the quisling traitors in the GOPee finally win a battle instead of always being on the losing side after over fifty years of unending failure, whether through pure dumbassery or plain old chickenschitt capitulation. I believe that was tried in 1861.

The South had not got over that when I was a kid.

Actually not until the end of WWII. Probably more than half the south were living in log cabins, heating with wood in fireplaces, no electricity and hauling up water from a dug well. I doubt you would like it.

Get the elections and local government cleaned up and the rest will work out.

Succession is a dream for the brash Rambo’s, a nightmare for the rest.

Whatever happened over 150 years ago during the Civil War is irrelevant for today. I doubt that the federal government of today that has shown itself to be incapable and unwilling to suppress over a year of murder and mayhem in American cities would have the stomach for killing hundreds of thousands of citizens who simply refuse to comply with illegitimate edicts issued by an illegitimate tyrannical junta. In any event, the only way to recover our stolen liberty and freedom is state-by-state nullification, non-compliance,and secession (not “succession” as you wrote). My bet, though, is that your beloved GOPee will very likely continue to align itself with the illegitimate tyrannical junta rather than the people who want their freedom and liberty restored. It would be fully in keeping with their quisling traitor natures. GOPee Delenda Est!

This socialist Biden initiative was devised and demanded by the UN in its Agenda 21. Putting apartment buildings in exclusive housing communities will increase crime rates and decrease property values. The good news is this travesty will adversely effect countless numbers of Democrats who will be screaming bloody murder but whose cries will fall on the deaf ears of the Marxist cabal that includes Biden, Harris, and the Deep State apparatchiks.
