I use their Echo and Omar Hakim Signature sticks. Why thy jumped on this perverse bandwagon? They just want to be “cool,” is my guess. Ignorance abounds these days.
Switch brands to Regal or ProMark.

I use Regal for quite some time. Zildjian have an office here in Hollywood and they’re all assholes.
I am working drummer and I use Vic Firth sticks exclusively. They truly are the best. Now I have find another brand.
I got rid of my Zildjian cymbals years ago. I prefer AA Meinl Byzance and Istanbul (for what it's worth).
Used to use Firth because I could find 7A’s..Try BOPWORKS drumsticks... they have historical versions for Swing, Memphis R&B, etc. Never liked the Z cymbals, use Paiste for years now.

A guy was a lead guitarist for a band. He was told one day that he was going to be replaced but he could still play if he played bass. But to play bass he, of course, had to have 1/4 of his brain removed.
Well, he needed the job and scheduled the surgery. When he woke up from the operation the surgeon was there and told him that he had made a mistake and removed a full half of the brain.
The guy said, “That’s fine. Do you have any drumsticks?”
Omar Hakim is good to go. As is Steve Gadd, whose sticks I sometimes use.
Just the thing to carry as a tertiary weapon to stab muggers in the eyes.
