Nearly half of health care workers remain unvaccinated, survey finds

A newly released survey found nearly half of health care workers nationwide remain unvaccinated.

The survey was done in early March by the Kaiser Family Foundation in partnership with The Washington Post.

Among the initial findings, the survey found:

Just over half (52%) of front-line health care workers say they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, leaving 48% who have not.

The unvaccinated group of front-line health care workers includes some who either have their vaccination scheduled (3%) or plan to get vaccinated but haven’t scheduled it

yet (15%). It also includes 3 in 10 who have either not decided whether they will get vaccinated (12%) or say they do not plan on receiving a COVID-19 vaccine (18%).

A large majority of unvaccinated health care workers, who either have not decided if they will get vaccinated or say they do not plan to get vaccinated, say that worries about potential side effects (82%) and the newness of the vaccine (81%) are major factors in their decision making.

Access to a COVID-19 vaccine from an employer is a key aspect of vaccination rates among front-line health care workers. To read the survey in its entirety, click here.

Graduated nursing school in 1997. I’m not taking this vaccine.

When the next pandemic comes, it’ll be interesting to see who makes it and who doesn’t and how that correlates with who’s been vaccinated.

I have been wondering the same thing.

I'm not telling you what course of action to take but I can tell you what's coming. They are going to prosecute anyone who fraudulently represents themselves as vaccinated and they will make the penalties very severe. Bank on it.

You know everything?

Glad to know...

Would it make you feel better if I called it an “experimental cytoplasm ribosome hijacker”? It’s technically a more accurate term but the average layperson has absolutely no idea what that means.

Bottom line is, it still isn’t a “vaccine”.

I had a coworker who had covid over the summer. Was pretty sick, in the hospital for a while. Recovered, returned home and to work. Got the not-vaccine after recovery. Not long thereafter, ended up back in the hospital, this time in the ICU on ECMO, covid+ again. Died waiting for a lung transplant.

Prior to the not-vaccine, had you ever heard of anyone recovering from covid, then dying from a reinfection? I haven’t.

You want to be a guinnea pig? Fine. Have fun.

Thank you. My wife and I are among the over 45 million Americans who are now fully vaccinated. We’ve had both doses of the Moderna vaccine.

There are over 83 million Americans who have received at least one dose. Tens of millions have had their first dose and soon will have the 2nd dose to complete their vaccination series.

No apocalypse has arrive among our tens of millions vaccinated since December with TRUMP’S VACCINES.

I’m an MD. I have had both doses. as have my brother husband and daughter all MDs. Two can play that game.

Since I don't know your area of practice, I'm just curious, how much time have you spent in close prolonged direct contact with covid+ patients since this started?

Doing what I do, I spend unbroken hours at a time in covid rooms in close contact. Although that has significantly dropped off in recent months because there are much fewer covid patients in the hospital now.

My point is, by now I can only conclude that I'm already immune, either acquired through a subclinical infection, or preexisting from innate immunity acquired from exposure to other respiratory common cold viruses (as upwards of 50% of the population is as well).

I'm not arrogant enough to think my PPE practices, or the equipment, is infallible to the point of having isolated me from exposure after all this time.

Help me out here, because I just can't comprehend why a front-line health care worker who has been dealing with this first hand for over a year now would feel the need for this experimental drug.

Every shift. I have take. care of very sick covid patients and seen healthy young people die. I got the vaccine to prevent the disease for myself but also to protect the 95 year old O am the primary caretaker for and my 8 year old daughter.

Ok, thank you for responding. So again, after all this time, why would you think you’re not already immune?

By all accounts that I’ve seen, this not-vaccine does not prevent infection or possible transmission. We already know that people who have taken it have tested positive for covid 19 afterwards. So how is your taking it protecting those you come in contact with?

Unless she has some special comorbidity, your eight year old daughter is at statistically zero risk from covid.

I’m sorry, the entire narrative around this experimental drug defies logic and common sense.

Did you even read the rest of my post, or just the last sentence which gave you the opportunity to virtue signal your gallantry in volunteering as a test subject?

Every day we have rapid responses in the covid vaccine clinic in my hospital. Today I counted 3.

We have NO WAY of knowing the long-term consequences of this experimental technology, because it is brand-new and never before used in humans.

I sincerely hope it works out for you. I’ve seen enough people die from virus; I don’t want to see even more die from this shot (even though I already have).

Yes, I read your post. And I’m far too intelligent to attempt to “virtue signal gallantry” by implying I was valiant because I received the same vaccination that tens of millions of other Americans (many old and/or frail) had volunteered to receive.

I was vaccinated back in December. I work in a hospital.

Still on two feet and breathing. If you want the shot, get it. If you don't, well, don't.

No mandatory vaccination for the general public.

Hospital workers should.

In New Jersey the law say's if you work in a health care facility you have to get a flu shot. No one I ever worked in a hospital(and I've worked in two others) had any problem with getting a flu shot.

I’m anti-vaxx because the prevalence of ASD is far greater than the prevalence of measles, mumps and rubella combined. Also the latter have effective treatments and don’t cause brain damage for life.

But I’m pro-Covid vaccine at this point.
I took a cruise to Mexico in Jan ‘20 and caught it. I spent two weeks in the hospital for influenza, pneumonia, a heart attack, a ‘mystery corona virus’ (Covid-19) and a quad-bypass.

I have 5 comorbidities and took the first Pfizer vaccine shot. Not getting the second shot as I’m satisfied with it’s 60% protection to ~Covid illness~.

The vaccines do not prevent infection -they prevent serious illness from Covid infection. I can verify this from personal experience. At least once a month I get re-infected and my recovery time has gone from a week to 4 days after the Pfizer vaccine. But I still have to call out sick so I’m planning to get the J&J soon. So far I didn’t like the (presumed) side effects of the Pfizer vaccine (joint, heart and kidney pain).

Don’t worry about the Pfizer vaccine. The immune system clears it out in about 3 years which requires re-vaccination. But it does that by attacking the cells which harbor the mRNA. So imo, there is attendant Lupus-like effects. IOW, a Faustian deal. I don’t want the suspected organ damage that comes with the mRNA so I’m trying the J&J adenovirus vaccine. At least they’ve been using the adenovirus vaccine type on wild animals for rabies vaccination.
