Just to be clear, Kristi Noem is the Governor of SOUTH Dakota, not North Dakota.

No, I am not wrong. The excess deaths would not be there were it not for the pandemic. You can make a valid argument that the response to the pandemic has caused some of those deaths. But the majority of the deaths are other illness plus COVID.

What do you mean they aren’t tracking it? They’re tracking all the numbers right here: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

262 positive flu specimens so far this season. 93,000 flu tests performed. “Very high” flu activity in Iowa, low so far in most places but increasing. All perfectly normal for this time of year.

And the Disease Burden of Influenza page tracks all the deaths from seasonal flu since 2010: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html

The 2019-2020 season was a little lighter than normal despite beginning sooner than normal. Average of 36,000 flu deaths a year.

Deaths from causes other than COVID are normal this year. Actually, a few causes are higher than normal. This myth that every death is classed as COVID is just that: a myth.

93,000 tests for flu have been performed in the US this season (since Sept 27th). 262 have come back positive. Flu activity is “very high” in Iowa and low everywhere else so far, but increasing in a number of states. November is the typical ramp-up period with December-March the big months in flu season.

How many people in that state normally die from the flu/cold/influenza each year?

How many died from flu and covid in the last year?

Hmmm? I’ll bet there’s not much difference.

“virus-related deaths.” As in, died with asymptomatic traces of the SARS2-CoV virus, or presumed to have it. Because they get paid lots more cash to so state.

What a scam.

And 1 in 1000? So. What. Nobody gets out of here alive. Freedom!!!

Do they understand that every year, it is possible that over 1% of your population will die?

In a static environment, if the average age is 80, you’d expect that 1/80th of your population would die each year, as they reached 80. In reality, because population was rising until recently, there are more younger people than older people, so the actual death rate has been a bit below 1%.

In the united states, we currently have about 2.8 million deaths a year, in a population of 300 million.
