I was certain that Collins was going to lose. I’m no fan but for the time being I’m glad she won.

How is it a setback? They still got a Democrat.

No fan of Collins, but we need the seat.

She won by 9 points. That wasn’t close. Pollsters are frauds. She was supposed to lose by 5. They just lie. It’s not more complex than that. Quinnipiac had her losing by 12. Only 21 points off.

I’m glad we here in the 2nd CD of Maine were able to drag her across the finish line... We need the seat.
Something else I heard on the radio about an hour ago, and not that it matters in the big scheme of things, but apparently, the results for the 2nd CD have been reversed, and President Trump did in fact split the state. All day, I’ve seen that all 4 of our meager electoral votes were handed to Biden. I can’t yet find a link to corroborate, but it tis what I heard. Hmmmmm.....

Setback for the Lincoln Project as well. For that we can get some satisfaction out of this.

Our “placeholder” Senator prevails. No one should be under any illusion that if our majority is dependent on her that any high amount of meaningful legislation is going to go through beneficial to our side (although she did vote for tax reform - which was a big one)...but she will block court packing and things of that nature from getting through, which is no small thing.

Her re-election is a very good thing she will vote for McConnell as leader and Schumer is again denied.
As soon as Murkowski said yes would vote yes, Collins got permission to vote No which took all the wind out of Gideon’s sails, fooled the dopes in Maine and got her over the line.
This now keeps McConnell’s Judge Machine chugging along which will reshape the courts who twenty years.
The No was enough to avoid the ridiculous runoff system Maine Democrats devised specifically to beat Republicans and especially Collins.
Congratulations Mitch and Susan, your plan worked exactly and you thought it would.

Not crazy about RINO Collins but we do get a 2 year reprieve if the numbers hold for a 52 Republican senate majority from the dystopia of a majority Dem Congress and Dem Pres. Cocaine Mitch stands between the deluge of court packing, adding states, killing the filibuster, dems raising taxes, wildly leftist Dem judges, etc.

Certainly not a big fan, but you got to hand it to her, she fought against heavy odds and pulled it out. Much better than losing the seat.

“…setback for Democratic hopes?”

They’re kidding? She is the most liberal republican senator on the job. She can’t be trusted to vote conservative at any time. A study published by Congressional Quarterly found that Collins voted with her party on party-line votes 59% of the time between 1997 and 2016. Currently, she is the Republican senator most likely to vote with Democrats. That’s not even 3/5 of the votes she did for almost 20 years. She is a problem for the conservatives, not an asset. Her recent voting against Amy Coney Barrett is a perfect example of her liberal actions. And without talking to anyone before or after the vote, went back to Maine.
