Texas Republicans Sound Post-2020 Alarm Bells
The HIll ^ | 10/30/2020 | Al Weaver

BULVERDE, Texas — Texas Republicans remain bullish that President Trump will repeat his 2016 win here next week. But they warn the party nonetheless has a lot of work to do in the coming years as Democrats continue to make inroads across the state, especially in suburban areas.

For two cycles now, Texas Republicans have watched as Democrats picked off long-held GOP House seats in the Dallas and Houston suburbs, with the minority party continuing to go on offense in a number of seats few saw as possible pick-up opportunities years ago. This has set off alarm bells for party leaders, who warn that they have to right the ship before it is too late.

"The party's got some work to do, and the reason they've got work to do is when you win the national championship every year — year after year after year — you get complacent," former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) told The Hill in an interview.

"I think the Republican Party in Texas over the last 10 years ... got complacent," Perry continued, taking some responsibility for the situation, as he was governor from 2000 to 2014. "You didn't build the structure that you need. You didn't go recruit the bench that you need to continue to be a strong team."

A site I used to visit? Just the random accidental visit is enough to make me want to through my laptop down the stairs.

DRUDGE is calling TEXAS for BIDEN!?

Awesome. I was worried for a second.

What THE HILL fails to recognize is TRUMP has paved the way for Republicans to work on making the HISPANIC/LATINO vote a strong part of the Republican base. Democrat calculus always assumes that MINORITY voters will ALWAYS vote Democrat.

Trump is making inroads in all MINORITY blocks. IF Republicans pick up on his cue and increase on the Minority percentage(Taken from 2016 Exit Polls) voting Trump, all the work Democrats are doing in the Texas suburbs, and suburbs EVERYWHERE won’t matter.

Example:

Black 8% in 2916 to 10% in 2020
Hispanic 28% in 2016 to 33% in 2020
Asian 27% in 2016 to 33% in 2020

It is laughable. GOPe always talked about expanding the party and NEVER did it.

TRUMP opens the door and I am unconvinced the Republican ESTABLISHMENT is smart enough to walk thru it.

Hispanic 28% in 2016 to 33% in 2020
Asian 27% in 2016 to 33% in 2020

I am projecting from what they WERE to hopefully what they can be in 2020. AND moving forward.

I grew up 14 miles from Rick Perry. Knew his father and know his mother. Rick solidified the Republican Control of Texas.
(Rick’s family has been in this county slightly longer than mine, mine has been here since 1889. The county was cut up in 1885.)

He was not a perfect governor, but he did get results. Give him credit where it is due.

The article is right. Trump is going to win Texas, and we will probably hold onto the state House this time, but anyone who thinks Texas is safely Republican in the long run isn’t paying attention.

It’s hard to overstate how bad 2018 was in the Houston area. Democrats swept every county-wide race in Harris County and Fort Bend County, flipping both longtime Republican county governments Democrat. Democrats picked up a Congressional seat that had been Republican for 40 years. Both Houston courts of appeals flipped from all Republican to majority Democrat.

We are now feeling the pain this year as a result. The now-Democrat Harris county government is working overtime to turn every citizen, illegal, invalid, corpse, dog, cat, and tree out to vote Democrat. There is a massive illegal ballot-harvesting operation that is basically run by the County government, illegal, difficult to monitor “drive through” polling places, precinct election judges in heavily Hispanic precincts with stacks of drivers licenses to use for fraudulent voters, and 24-hour early voting locations. All of this is being protected by the Democrat trial and appellate judges who won in 2018–thank God we still hold the Texas Supreme Court. All of this is going on in a county with 4.7 million people, almost a sixth of Texas’s total population. Who knows how many Biden votes this will account for.

All things fall in time. People from other states have swarmed the south for various reasons. Cities have long contained dems, if there is a large exodus from larger cities, that will only speed up the conquest.

Well as far as I am concerned until WE start making inroads into the education systems in this country, we can kiss our Republic goodbye. If we continue to insist on being the silent majority...the silence is going to get us literally killed in an American gulag of our own making.

Californians and illegals will eventually turn Texas just as Virginia was turned by New York/New Jerseyites and illegals.

In coming years, Republicans in Texas need to work their tails off. Get out there in the Hispanic community. Get out there in the inner cities. Have you learned no lessons at all from Donald Trump?

That is why I vote even if it is a local schoolboard election.

Get out there in the Hispanic community.

That is already underway. In fact, Hispanics in the GOP are leading the charge to turn the big cities Red.

9 million Texans voted in 2016. As of yesterday, 8.7 million Texans had already voted. I can’t see all that being Houston and San Antonio ballot fraud. I smell a landslide for Trump.

I’m a Texan and a life long GOP voter, I will never vote D but the GOP has screwed this state up badly. Shy high property taxes, big state government and now the GOP is making going after seniors on golf carts a priority. I going to vote Trump and I’ll vote GOP for congress but I think I’ll skip voting GOP down ticket. I’ve had it with the GOP in Texas.

What they are saying is true, but my question is what are they doing to stop it and turn it around.

Don’t just keep sending me texts and emails saying that the fate of the state is at stake and that you need me to send more money.

Tell me WHAT you are going to do with the money, and show me that you are doing it.
No more just sitting around and riding, get to work.

Who ever they pick he better be ultra conservative. I’m sick and tired of voting for so called conservatives like Cronyn. I really had an internal struggle to vote for Cronyn this time. I think I only did it to give the Senate to Trump. I’m sick we have had the Graham’s and not Cronyn for Texas almost my entire voting life.

Texas Leads Nation In Early Voting At 8.5 Million Cast – 94% Of
2016 Turnout. Some experts predict turnout could reach as high
as 12 million by Election Day

Texas also owes its staggering early voter numbers to an explosion in
voter registration in recent years, with CBS News reporting 3 million
new voter registrations in the state since 2016.

The last Sunday in early voting has become a special event for some
churches. They hold morning service, have a dinner on the ground
and then go to the local early voting location to complete the day.
