Ibram X. Kendi, director of Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research, wrote on Saturday that white people who adopt black children may be “racist,” joining a growing group of Democrats and leftists commenting on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Haitian son and daughter.
Kendi wrote on social media: “Some White colonizers ‘adopted” Black children. They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”
“And whether this is Barrett or not is not the point,” he continued. “It is a belief too many White people have: if they have or adopt a child of color, then they can’t be racist.”

That would be my nephew. My oldest sister was a little prejudiced against blacks. Then her youngest son brought home a black girlfriend. He is lily white, and she is darkest black. By the time they married, my sister changed her tune. My nephew and his wife have two sons, and they're good boys.
When I was a teen, I had an arab girlfriend, her closest friends were black. So one time she talks me into going to a large picnic gathering at the park. There were about 100 people there, all black except us, me being a white guy. They were very friendly and accommodating to me. Reflecting back on that, I can see how some blacks feel in an overwhelmingly white society. But shame on those who feel it's okay to attack strangers simply based on skin color. A bit of prejudice can be tolerated. My own mother was prejudiced, telling me I could marry anyone except a black. Back in middle school, a black girl kept calling for me and my mom chased her off on the telephone. As I said a bit of prejudice, just as long as it isn't assault. There is a difference, and some blacks don't adhere to non-violence against strangers.

It does happen, rarely. While watching the cable show "My 600 pound life", I recall a couple episodes about an overweight black woman. She was about 750 pounds, bedridden, and her four kids took care of her. One of the kids was an adopted white boy. They would bathe her daily, clean her bed and feed her. She went on a crash diet with a doctor's help, and over a series of months she eventually walked around, drove a car and shed most of her weight and had surgery to remove excess skin. Talk about an ordeal for that white boy, even Navin Johnson didn't have to deal with that.
