Why Arizona's Senate Election Could Be Crucial to SCOTUS Fight
Townhall ^ | Sept. 22, 2020 | Leah Barkoukis

There's a 53-47 Republican edge right now [in the Senate], but that may not last for very long after the election," McCarthy told Fox News’s Bill Hemmer, noting that Arizona’s Senate election is a special election.

The winner of the McSally-Kelly race will serve out the term of the late Sen. John McCain, who died in August 2018 after being reelected two years earlier. McSally was appointed to the Senate by Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey at the start of 2019 after former GOP Sen. John Kyl took McCain's place and served out the remainder of 2018 before resigning.

“If Mark Kelly defeats Martha McSally, he could be a senator on November 30, which means the 53-47 edge during a lame duck [session] very quickly becomes 52-48,” he continued. "And then, if you consider all of the different challenges that are likely to happen after the election in terms of the mail-in balloting, which is kind of going to be unprecedented in the degree that we're going to have in this election, I think that really shortens the period of time that the Republicans have the kind of edge that they have now, which is narrow enough as it is.”

Can’t believe everything you “read”? She was on tape! And she wrote for the communist party newsletter. She was in Code Pink, complete with actual photos.

I’m aware of this but my parents don’t believe any of it.

Now you know how frustrating it is to carry on a conversation with them.

Not to mention, they are very anti-Trump.

If Biden wins and dems control both houses of congress, they will pack the SCOTUS with as many judges as they please, and it won’t matter who replaces Ginsburg. I hope voters are not going to allow that.

They’re shooting for 13 justices, and pack em fast. This is what we face and it’s why this election is pretty damned important.

Sadly, Antifa/BLM may run American entirely soon and drive it to the ground within years.

Why not 24 or more?

IF Trump loses(which I doubt) and the senate flips(not that impossible) then next time we ever have the senate, if they pack the court and raise the #’s, we should go to 100!

The whole thing is nuts. 9 is fine to me.

We may both be wrong, but I think Trump will win, and in that case we should still have 9 on SCOTUS. For 4 years anyway. Even Ginsburg wanted to keep the nunber at 9, but today’s leftists have gone further left.

I hope Trump wins early, PA, I’ll never get my hopes up that far. It’s all a guessing game. With this mail in stuff, he very well could be declared winner on 9/3 and then mail in ballot insanity to try and overturn it like gore tried.

I’m hoping, just for that, that they’ll be a 9-3 court to stop late fraud voting.

Yes, I can imagine...thankfully not my parents but I know plenty of people like this.

It is so frustrating the number of people who vote not based on sincere differences of opinion, but because they are willfully ignorant who otherwise would not vote that way if they would just bother to learn a few things.
