Democrats answer to anything they dislike is increasingly ‘burn it all down’
New York Post ^ | September 21, 2020 | Rich Lowry

Constitutional revolution is going mainstream. After delivering lectures about political norms for the entirety of the Trump era (often with good cause), much of the left is now threatening to kneecap an important institution of American government on a partisan vote in an act of ideological vengeance.

If the Republican Senate confirms a Trump appointee to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat right before or after the election, progressives say Democrats, if they sweep in November, should retaliate by packing the high court.

This would do vastly more damage to norms and the governing structures of the country than anything President Trump has said or done, but respectable center-left outlets like The New Yorker and Vox have run pieces advocating it, and Democratic leaders are making fraught “all options on the table” statements.

None of this comes out of the blue. The left is disenchanted with our country, and especially its governing institutions, which it believes are deeply undemocratic and shot through with racism. Democrats have gone from assuming a few years ago that they have a permanent majority to assuming that they can’t possibly win under such a rigged system.

They no longer want to live under a government that checks majoritarian passions, recognizes the importance of states in our federal system and features a Supreme Court that is supposed to render independent judgments based on the law and the Constitution. All of this, once a matter of basic civics, is now for suckers.

Before its new fashion, court-packing used to be notorious, the ill-considered move that FDR couldn’t see through even at the height of his power. For good reason.

Again and again the Demonicrats demonstrate by their words AND their actions that they are traitorous enemies of the United States of America.

They have access to billions of dollars.

1)Buy a large, temperate island, somewhere. Move there.

2) Set up your favored system. Live with it.

3) Let the world judge.

Really, Rich?. . .which norms would that be. . .you mean the one where our side would walk across the aisle only to come back limping with our tail between our legs? That norm? . . .or is it the other norm of the steady diet of RINO after RINO LA HOO SERS, Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney, and Jeb?

Lowery is a NeverTumper.

When the Bolsheviks seize power, him and Bill Krystol will be among the first to be put up against the wall and shot.

But at least he will go down having the satisfaction of being against the Orange Man. /spit.

Really Rich? Nothing Trump has ever said or done has ever come close to the threats of violence that the 'Rats make on a daily basis. There's no 'good cause' to tolerate any of their b.s.

The Democrats tried to burn down the United States in 1860 and they’re trying once again to destroy it.

These are critical times for the fate of our nation and our freedoms.

Some Karen on Next Door was reminding us not to grill this summer because the smoke was bad for our lungs and the environment.

I notice these morons never worry about things like that when they are burning cities.

I wonder what Atifablm's carbon footprint is with all the burning? Why aren't the libtards worried about it? Hmmmm...wondering, wondering...

There’s a decent chance that some of the terrible fires out here in the West were started by antifa anarchists. At least one of them has produced an arrest and others are under investigation. The air quality has been awful, but the arsonists are not concerned about the effects. You’re right, what a disconnect!

The Democrats threaten to pack the Supreme Court. That’s what FDR did by adding two justices, going from 7 to 9.

Can’t Trump just as easily UNPACK the court - by removing two and going back to seven?

The Democrats have suggested they might lie down on the floor of the Senate to physically keep them from doing their job.

Can President Trump then make an Executive appointment of a justice?

That’s what FDR did by adding two justices, going from 7 to 9.

That is NOT what happened.

But in the late 1930s, President Franklin D. Roosevelt wanted to put restrictions on the court when it came to age. Largely seen as a political ploy to change the court for favorable rulings on New Deal legislation, the Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937, commonly referred to as the “court-packing plan,” was Roosevelt’s attempt to appoint up to six additional justices to the Supreme Court for every justice older than 70 years, 6 months, who had served 10 years or more.
