“As a former Rocket Science graduate, I can answer that question: Because she is the perfect choice: conservative, woman, Cuban heritage, communist hating, from Swing State Florida and a supremely (no pun intended) qualified and proven candidate.”

And she represented the family trying to keep Elias Gonzalez in the U.S. That’s a big plus in my book, but it could stir up the whole unfortunate issue and divide conservatives for freedom against conservatives for parental rights as what happened 20 years ago.

She would be a great second option, but I still prefer Judge Amy Barrett.

Or, the Dems voted to confirm her because they didn’t want to be seen as fighting against a woman who also was Latin.

Lagoa is also a devout Catholic and pro-life.

Lagoa has had not much work to date at 11th Circuit.

Barrett would be a much tougher vote to confirm -- she'd get hit with a barrage of "white privilege" criticism, and confirmability should be given a lot of weight given proximity to the election.

Getting the chance to make this nomination is a massive gift -- the nominee must get confirmed or it does not matter.

Yes but she didn’t have the honor to clerk under Antonin Scalia like Barrett.

Ok she has a vagina. What is her attitude toward the 2nd amendment?

How could she get hit with “White Privilege” criticism? After all, she adopted two black Haitian kids.

He needs to nominate Amy Coney Barrett, a former Antonin Scalia clerk. She’s Catholic and anti-abortion that will drive liberals to suicide.

And she's already survived a disgraceful, bigoted sham of a hearing three years ago. No need for another one. Just put her name up there and vote on it. We don't need any help from the Democrats on this.

And, yes, liberals absolutely loath her.

Kinda think you’re right. If the other side isn’t spitting venom they must know something we don’t.

There are two Haitian children grateful for Barrett’s “white privilege.” She adopted them.

They will come after her for her strong religious views and of course Roe vs Wade.

Row vs Wade always helps us, and I’d like to see them try and burn her at the stake for being a Christian.

Can she be trusted not to turn squishy liberal down the road?

No, I don’t think so. There is a risk with this one.

Do you have any source of information about her? On the Internet, I have only been able to find out that she is “pro-business”, but nothing about abortion.

Barrett would be a much tougher vote to confirm

Republican senators will confirm whoever President Trump nominates. It would be political suicide if they didn't. He has a blank check.

As I said above - we have to trust him and his team. They have a very clear picture of what they want in a Judge and clearly she made the list.

I'm still waiting to be impressed with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.

As it stands today, the Supreme Court appears to consist of two constitutional conservatives (both in their 70s), two centrists, and four liberals.

At least most Dems objected to Rushing (53-44), but I admit to being a little wary of someone who clerked for Gorsuch being too influenced by him on the court.

Eid was named to replace Gorsuch. She too got at least decent resistance from the Dems (56-41).

It’d be close and I don’t think we necessarily know that.

We probably won’t know the real reason if Trump pulls back from the high and inside fastball.
