There is no ‘do no harm’ VP pick
The Spectator ^ | 10 Aug 2020 | Freddie Gray

If you’ve kept half an eye on the ‘who will it be?’ story that is the Democratic party’s vice-presidential nomination, you’ll have heard commentators suggesting that Biden will pick a ‘do no harm’ candidate.

In other words, Biden should play it safe: given his lead in the polls, he can only slip up, so boring is better than original; boring is better than exciting; uninspiring beats edgy. Do no harm — it’s become journalistic shorthand for boring.

The trouble is, there is no such thing as a harmless Veep pick. A candidate who has obviously been picked because of his or, in this case, her inability to excite will damage Biden’s campaign. She will fall flat.

Just look at what happened four years ago. Hillary Clinton chose Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia precisely because he seemed the least risky choice. Kaine may have been dastardly handsome in his youth and Clinton’s number crunchers reckoned he’d help her win over Scots-Irish Catholic voters in the rust belt because, well, Kaine is a Scots-Irish Catholic. But to say he didn’t lift any souls, or set hearts fluttering, would be an understatement.

And Tim Kaine revealed himself to be a window-licking nut job.

I think it will be Mayor Pete, who now identifies as a woman of color.

Biden should just admit that he can’t make a decision and bow out of the race.

From 500 BC and Thoughtco.com

The Hippocratic oath, written in the 5th century BCE, does contain language suggesting that the physician and his assistants should not cause physical or moral harm to a patient.

Moral Harm ! Ha, they are all disqualified.

Biden's "lead in the polls" is only meaningful to the gullible.

I have said since the spring that Slow Joe will not be swapped out as the nominee for the same reason that his Veep search is so hard. The Democrats have no good choices.

The apparatchiks lined up behind Joe Biden just to hose Bernie--not because they loved Joe Biden. If they try to ditch Joe and pass over Bernie, the Bernie bros will mutiny.

On a tactical level, I would advise Joe to pick Amy Klobuchar--who is from a must-win state and at least can pass as sane. Elizabeth Warren is from Taxachusetts and is hated by Wall Street. And The Karen Vote is already largely going against The Donald anyway. Kamala Harris excited no one in the primaries and has baggage. And California is pretty much a lock for Biden already. Tulsi Gabbard would be an interesting choice--but she pissed off the Establishment and is from another state that Biden has a lock on.

Look. This VP pick is the most important decision since the Democrats forced FDR to get rid of Wallace (too radical) and pick Truman instead.

Everyone knew in 1943 that FDR was almost dead, and so his VP would soon be the president.

Just like everyone knows Biden won’t last more than a month or two IF he gets elected, so his VP pick is crucial. Because whoever is VP in January will soon be the president.

This is not a “do no harm pick”. I doubt Biden will get to pick anyone anyway. It will be the decision of the DNC and Hillary.

That being the case - Hillary it will be. With Mooch as another strong possibility.

I don't believe The Mooch wants the position. It's too much of a job and too much work. Especially campaigning. She would accept it if she could skip the election and the run itself.

As for Hillary, I don't believe she is in good health either.

Too much of a job? Having Secret Service wait on you hand and foot 24/7 again is too much?

Traveling the world - for free - on AF2 is too much? Month long vacations at Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii is too much?

What will be “too much” is when Biden resigns for mental health reasons and she becomes president. But even then - she will be president in name only. Barack will be the real president. And once again Mooch will be living in the White Hut as before.

How is this all “too much”?

It might be Rice or it might not.

The one thing I am certain of..... it will be who George Soros wants to be President. You can take that to the bank.
