Election Interference: Twitter Just Censored a Doctor, Public Health Expert, and GOP Chairwoman // Twitter has suspended a Republican state party chair’s account — just in time for her state’s August 4 primary.

The reason I was given by Twitter for why my account was suspended was because, according to them, I spread “false information” about COVID-19, or rather, information that goes against “accepted science.”

Is it possible that the geniuses at Twitter are referencing the medical journal Lancet, which published a study claiming hydroxychloroquine was not effective in fighting the coronavirus and that this drug, which has been used for decades with great success to treat malaria, may cause cardiac problems? Because, if so, that study was later retracted after it was discovered that the underlying data the company used was totally falsified. Oops!

The truth is, once it was mentioned by President Trump as a promising option, the entire discussion became politicized by the media. Now you can get censored for simply tweeting a video of doctors who say they are seeing good results treating COVID-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and zinc. It’s profoundly disturbing.

But Twitter hasn’t just suspended me as an individual; they suspended the duly elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Arizona. Twitter took this capricious action a week before our state’s primary election and less than 100 days before the November general election.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the public policy surrounding the virus may be the biggest issue facing us today. To restrict the ability of a political official to weigh in on an issue of this magnitude is completely wrong.

I am also a residency trained family physician who has over 20 years of experience in the medical field. Unfortunately, what Twitter is doing is denying doctors the ability to communicate about COVID-19 unless it fits their pre-approved narrative. Why are they appointing themselves as the gatekeepers for information the public can see and read when it comes to information about COVID-19 treatment?

NOTE These social media platforms are not private businesses——these are publicly-held companies subject to SEC laws.
They raise money from the public and are traded on the stock exchange,

They “say” they are common carriers-—like planes, trains, cabs, buses........

TALKING POINTS Some insist on likening Trump’s concerns as if it were govt interference in private businesses. Pres Trump, as the Executive, is responsible for enforcing the law. He is also given latitude to not enforce the law, at his discretion. So he would possibly be able to decide to no longer enforce the law for Twitter or Facebook.

Dan Bongino thinks we should not go after these corrupt Social Media
Companies. His solution is to start competing Social Media companies.
Nice idea in theory. But we don’t have the time before the coming election
to do that. The current biased Social Media Companies MUST BE dealt
with NOW before the election. A study has shown that these biased Media
Companies could sway 10% of the vote. They must be dealt with NOW!

Since twitter is dominating public discourse, that makes them subject to federal laws concerning public discourse. I’d ask the feds to step in, but since every alphabet agency in America is in bed with the America haters, it wouldn’t do much good.

I agree with you.

EO them all into utilities and take away their abilities to be anything but platforms. Just like power company and transmission lines. Let them charge for service no ad income .

Facebook Google Instagram Tiktak Twitter reddit MySpace. All of the communication giants

They already are “platforms”; that’s the problem. Platforms aren’t supposed to be censoring content except to remove illegal stuff. By censoring content, Twitter and Facebook aren’t acting as platforms, they’re acting as publishers. Making them publishers legally would make them subject to libel and slander tort law, which would shut them down quickly.

______________

I know they are platforms, but as utilities they have no more right to comment or interfere with your use that the power company has to cut your power because they do not like your politics. They are defanged.

There is no effective legal system in this country and it is worthless to go that route in the short term.

Twitter, facebook and google are all using their resources to promote democrats. They must no longer be designated as “social media,” but instead as organs of the democrat party, which they are.
