Goodbye, Washington DC.: Mayor Bowser broke her contract with residents like me. So we’re leaving.

People: just leave me alone. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.

That's what quite a lot of us - dare I suggest a majority? - want, and the explanation for the success of the loud and violent is that their list of needs is much shorter: power. Power, most of all over people who just want to be left alone. And no, Mr. Turner, they aren't going to leave you alone. They need enemies to survive and you've been nominated. We've been nominated.

“The guy is a seriously slow learner—lucky thing he figured it out before it cost him his life.”

You stated it well.

I read the article and just about everything he wrote condemned him in some way. He wrote as if being an indifferent big-city person made him part of the human race.

He is lucky he found someplace that would allow him to move in considering his past.

I met two black guys earlier this week. Both left Brooklyn a couple years ago for the sake of their families.

I feel the OP’s “pain”. and it is painful to leave something you have loved all your life.

I lived and loved New Orleans most of my adult life, I left 10 years ago. And ten years ago it was not quite the cesspool it is now.

A couple of years ago I had to go to New Orleans for an appointment. I paid for a couple of hours of parking so I ventured out to canal street. It was the usual hot and crowded, but so many of the places I knew and loved had long gone. In the past I was never afraid in town (down town) but I only walked around the block and could not get back to my vehicle fast enough, This was in the middle of the day during the week. And going to the quarter, well forget about it. I still love New Orleans but there is little chance I’ll ever go back. I’ve been living 300 miles away in the piney woods of north Louisiana, its my little piece of heaven on earth. Goe is goo, all the time.

So the obvious question is why do the voters elect these people?

She is black, a professional negro, black for a living

Black is all that counts because she has lost control of enough black voters to lose the Presidential election. That created panic to the soul and core of progressive elites. If there are in fact enough rational black voters who actually see the danger of left wing control, the democrat party is finished.

It was rumored that Trump had 34% of black voters. That spells destruction of the progressive dream. All the looting and rioting and pillaging has one aim. Restore the black voters that think they have nothing to lose by voting Republican

"The guy is a seriously slow learner—lucky thing he figured it out before it cost him his life."

His wounds are self-inflicted. It's too bad it took him so long to wake up. Washington, D.C. has been a $shit-hole for years. Every Democrat-run city is a $hit-hole.

When we were looking for a house in the country our friends would badger us about the commute and life without neighbors. Then they started to complain about discarded needles, poop on sidewalks, car prowling and burglaries. Recently it’s become drive by shootings, gang bangers, arson and riots. The price we pay for missing out on these amenities is a twenty mile commute to town.

Urban America is run by fools: Bowser in DC, DeBlasio in New York, Wheeler in Portland.

I used to say this about Chavez, Maduro and Venezuela, but same applies here: these people are not foreign invaders. They come from the local culture. They were chosen, perhaps sometimes with some fraud, but often by a large majority of citizens.

Every nation and people gets the kind of government it deserves.

I haven’t moved that far from DC geographically—only about 60 miles—but it might as well be another country. Deer at dawn and stars at twilight. My dog runs through the woods and plays in streams. Ample parking day or night, people shouting “howdy neighbor.” Grocery store cashiers are friendly. I can leave my car unlocked, my front door wide open, and protect myself with every gun I could ever want. No sirens, no protests, no civic social justice required.

Unfortunately, he'll find himself asking for new sidewalks, better services and on and on and he'll vote for whoever promises to give him all that nice stuff he deserves and eventually, he'll live in a leftist hellhole again and will have ruined life for the people that have lived there for generations.

‘The guy is a seriously slow learner”

That’s funny right there! A very good article though. And yes, he made trade-offs and tolerated a lot for what he enjoyed of metro-life.

But it is now altogether intolerable.

This is what’s happening, at an alarming rate. None of these libs can put 2 and 2 together, or will vote for Trump.

That is one reason I moved way way out in the country—where it would be economically impossible to provide city amenities.

Most suburban folks who move out here (thinking they are ready for the “country life”) give up in disgust in a year or two. It requires too much hard work and planning—they can’t handle it.

“The Chinese CCP is pretty flush with cash. Maybe they will take advantage of the fire sale prices and snatch up some prime property”

Yep

The CCP, or the deep-pocketed, Moose-Limb Mosque raising hordes will start buying up big chunks.

The old groups of “persecuted” folks, Jews and formerly “new” ethnic groups, have been been moving out of the old central cities for quite some time now. New arrivals almost always go to the big cities.
Maybe the’ve got a good idea?

Interesting read.

I had heard that, before all the troubles anyway, that Washington was experiencing a lot of “gentrification”, and that the city was experiencing a building boom as new condos were built and old housing was renovated.
